New PC speakers and some headphones...

I've got some extra money and I'm thinking I should buy a better set of PC speakers and some new headphones (for iPod not PC).

I don't need anything more than 2.1 speakers and am trying to keep the cost down too. I've been thinking I should get a set of logitech speakers, but am unsure about headphones.

    What would you guys suggest?

With an on board sound card I wouldn't go over the top on speakers as you won't notice any major improvement in quality, unless your thinking about upgrading your sound card in future. Logitech Z-2300 are great but probably a little bit more than you were looking to spend.

I was actually thinking about those, despite being rather expensive.

I recently needed a decent 2.1 set myself and got these:

They sound good and I have no complaints. It's a nice mid-range price as well.

Sorry to kinda highjack this but, Spawn, how is the bass response (how does it hit those lows) with those speakers?

just get some like 2.0 speakers, those 200W stuff get too dam loud on 25% of the volume,

for ipod get IEM(In Ear Monitors) like sennheiser cx300/500 if your into trance/dance music and like shure E2C if your into rock and stuff otherwise sennheiser px100,

BTW i have had the logitech Z-4 and quickly ditched them, they look quite cool but are no better than some of the cheaper alternatives.

I agree with what Alex says, some nice little 2.0 speakers would have a much more accurate sound. Something like these

although they will be expensive and they wont have huge bass. All depends on what you want and how much you want to spend tbh!

Bear in mind that the screen only works if you run it off USB, negating any sound card you may have.

I think I'm going to skip on the speakers atm.

My need for headphones is more pressing right now.

Are you looking for in-ear headphones or closed/open back?

Those are not ideal solutions, just example of what kind of thing your looking for? also need the budget to really give recommendations.
