My new computer parts list, what do you think?

This would be my first computer build but i have been planing out this parts list for about a month now and i think that i have gotten the best parts!

Here is a list of the parts for my new computer, i have not brought any of these parts yet so please voice your opinion on them all.

The total so far comes to $1,239.58

ANTEC Nine Hundred Ultimate Gamer Case

Minimal wire management means that with high end components, it can be a rather messy case to build. Contemplate the Antec 1200.

Intel Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600 2.4GHz

Fine. Maybe you should buy an aftermarket CPU cooler and overclock it to get the best out of that CPU.

SEAGATE 1TB Barracuda 7200.11 SATA II

Fine

Corsair 4GB XMS2-6400 TWIN2X Dual Channel DDR2

Fine. Just make sure you have a 64bit operating system otherwise you won't see a full 4gb of memory. Vista Home Premium X64 recommended.

Asus Maximus II Formula

A little bit of an overkill on the motherboard. Look at the cheaper Asus P5K or P5Q models.

HIS Radeon HD 4850 512MB PCI-E

With the money saved from downgrading the motherboard, upgrade this to a 4870.

Now that I think Newegg ships to Canada, this case has great cable management and air flow for those parts your listed

you might think about buying two smaller, cheaper drives instead of one big TB momma. the fewer platters, the better (less noise, fewer parts, etc.) as a general rule of thumb.

you get some marginal performance benefits from having your O/S on one drive and your programs on the other. i used to think having the swap file on a drive separate from the O/S helps, too, but i haven't gotten any conclusive data on that yet.

also two hard drives means that if you think one is about to fail, you're not up a creek, and you have move/transfer options available. if you have important data, you've also got an easy backup system in between DVD burns.

edit: the psu is overkill imho.

edit 2: and if you're doing alot of gaming at higher res, the Alex's suggesion to go with the 4870 would be money well spent.

any quality power supply over 520 watts will be fine, 850 watts is massive overkill, i reccomend the corsair ones, like the HX620 or VX550 will save you money twice, on the cost of the product, and electricity bills as corsair have like 89% effiicency the antec one is rated at <85%

either that or the gtx260, which is a nice low price point at the moment

Not really, the only game that really benefits from an Nvidia card is Crysis. Every other game has equal performance.

Thanks guys for your help.

I have downgraded the PSU to 750w and changed the 1tb HDD to a 500gb saving me 200 dollars.

As for the motherboard i don't see changing it being a good decision mainly because it comes with a fairly good sound card also saving me 100 dollars.
