    Really, an E6750 to an E8400 would be an improvement, but if you don't feel that you're being held back, theres really no reason to do so. Also 112 quid = 204 USD? You call that cheap, I feel sorry for you Brits, the price on Newegg is $170. :shock:

        £112 is cheap. We are used to those prices and on average, we get paid more here. But, it's not as cheap as it should be

          No lol i compare that to bahraini Dinars, yes its cheap, i was not comparing to USD, oh and 204 USD is 76 Dinars lol!

          B1scu1T, what do you mean about the cooler, cant the AC7 take it? or were you talking bout a cooler for Overclocking?

            The AC7 will handle any dual core chip for overclocking (bar netburst), especially 45nm chips which produce a lot less heat.

            It's just not great for quad cores.

              I have had some AC7s that have performed fantastic and others not so good, it seems there isnt a lot of consistency in the production of them. These are usually the limiting items in any overclock i have done but should easily be able to handle 3-3.2GHz assuming the rest of your case cooling is sufficiant.

                  This is true, although its a pretty time consumption activity unless you have access to big machines.

                  Saying that, could you do it with like a dremel multi-tool?

                    Cheers Alex :) well that's it for this thread, i have came to the conclusion of updating my "family PC" which my sister is using as her own Personal Computer atm, i can put the E6750 in there, and put the E8400 in mah rig, i did the math, i am pretty fine with 112 quid, it aint much from where i come from (Bahrain) so meh i will go with it.

                    just wanted to say Thanks to all who replied. :)

                      Um.... you can lap with basic tools.

                      Buy a cheap mirror (it has a perfect flat surface)and various grit wet/dry paper (low to high grit).

                      Put a "X" cross on the bottom of the heatsink with a permanent marker, this will show how far to lap. Place an A4 size piece of wet/dry paper on the mirror, secure with tape and moisten slightly.

                      Put your hand over the top of the CPU contact on the heatsink. So, in the space between the fins and the CPU contact and gently brush back and forth. You should start to see parts of the permanent marker disappear. This is where the highest part of the metal is being worn down.

                      Keep lapping until all the permanent marker disappears. Rinse and repeat with a lower grit paper until you have a mirror finish. Remember you may have to replace paper as it gets worn down.
