pc build need suggestions caus im noob

ok after i get paid on friday minus rent and bills i will have roughly $1800 (american) to play with..

if i want to get a really high quality rig that will basically dominate any game other than Supreme commander (like i want +100fps on any fps game no matter what unless something seriously wrong is with the computer) and be able to play future games really well for a few years should i wait until i have more money?

ok i already have a monitor, mouse, keyboard and sound system so i need to
    buy a

PSU (probably an 850W i dont want to worry about not enough apms, volts and all that)

tower, (something not too expensive that will fit what i need. nothin crazy looking. more conservative.)

hard drive, (id be fine with an 80GB hard drive, not concerned with space but probably want a quick HD)

processor (the processor mMMUST be the ownage, this is important)

mobo, (im not too knowledgable about this but something that will support the ownage cpu as well as being able to support 4GB of DDR2 RAM because DDR3 is lame. also i want something that not rediculously complicated something solid that works and is easy to set up and run windows vista 64 bit. i want alot of slots for video, sound cards and all that. remember i am a noob)

video card (probably an 8800 something or other but if you have another suggestion please show and tell)

and 4GB ram (i dont care if i dont need that much, i just want it)

and then i think i need to buy the os probably Vista 64 bit so i can have
    4GB RAM,

then probably some kind of extra cooling so a couple fans caus i might want to overclock or i dont know how much water cooling would cost or if its worth it.

anyone who has water cooling please tell me any important details. pros, cons

then if im building also a CDROM drive? yeah i think

    hmm what else....

uhh what do you guys think..?

If you already have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, and great set of speakers you can easily build a great machine for $1,800. I just purchased a Q6600, P5Q-E Mobo, 640GB HDD, 20x DVD Burner, Tuniq Tower 120, 3 case fans, 4GB DDR2 800 RAM for about $700.

Off topic: Are you a hitman? Lol, j/k. Where do you work cause $1,800 a week minus bills and rent sounds like a lot.

i work at a window factory as a maintenance tech right out of tech college i got hired before school was over. i live in a scrubby city out in a deserty area but its not like i really care....I play computer games on my free time LOL

also what games do you play and what kind of framerate do you get? framerate is very important here. high emphasis on cpu demanding first person shooters such as bf2142, CoD4 and such

If your getting an ownage processor you might want to look into getting an ownage video card too

I would say the minimum performance for graphic card you want to be looking at is at least as powerful as a 4870

I edited my post, your too fast for me!!

And as far as a case goes, I use the antec 900 and I am happy with it. It already comes with 4 case fans installed which moves tons of air. It also has 2 slots where you can easily install 2 more fans if necessary.

As far as the hard drive goes, get a raptor.

As far as power supplies, the corsairs are supposed to be the best.
This one should have plenty of power for your application.

Why spend money on a raptor? Get the new 640GB WD, it's not far behind and won't really make much of a difference in performance.

Also, are you more interested in dual- or quad-core?

As for frame rates: I haven't gotten my new parts yet, so I can't test it out at the moment. I'll be getting them by the end of the week so I'll let you know what kind of FPS I get. You'll be purchasing a better video card than mine as well, so you'll probably get much better FPS.

I'm almost positive I'll be hitting around 100 in BF2142 with my sig rig, and that's only with a 8800GT. You'll get much better with a 4870.

Don't get the Q9300, tests show they are no better than an Q6600.

And, Vista Home Basic is meant for very low end PC's and developiing economies. It's pretty sparse...

                  Get Home Premium 64bit.

Definitely get home premium not basic.
Also considering what you said about a tower, i would recommend the antec P182 over the 900. But the Coolermaster 690 suggested by Sam would also be a good choice.

Also for a little bit more future proofness DDR3 woudl be an (expensive) option, although you should still be able to build one within your budget.

No, don't. It won't make a noticeable difference and DDR2 is dirt cheap atm.

uhh what do you guys think..?
                        Strategy:

Get a powerful PSU and an OK graphics card that is highly scalable. So you can always get another card for SLI/CF in the future.

PSU: Can't say about that, but read Anandtech review: http://www.anandtech.com/casecooling...spx?i=3359&p=4 Don't try to save money on this one.

CPU: I would suggest E8500, but since you're doing video as well, Q6600 is probably better. Please note that retail CPU comes with HSF, and both AMD and Intel won't accept RMA of OEM CPU (which doesn't come with box and no HSF) from end-user. They only do it through retailers. Buy OEM CPU at your risk, and I always take the risk.

Mobo: Get a X38 board. There are some open box deals from newegg if you dare buy open box. If you REALLY want SLI, than some 780i board would be enough. Get one with all solid capacitors.

RAM: 4GB DDR2-800. Either from G.Skill or OCZ. Get them while they are cheap. I just got 4GB from G.Skill and can operate at 1066.

Video: Both ATI and NVIDIA cards are still sold at over hyped price. I really can't recommend ANY graphics card according to your specification. Most future games will be like Crysis, and not even 280 in SLI can handle it with over 100 FPS at high resolution. For the money, I suggest you to go with a4850 at first. It should be enough if you game on 19" to 22" monitor until next year.

HDD: one Samsung SP F1 750GB. $100 from newegg now.

Case: Antec 900 is good, but if you want water cooling in the future, you might want different thing. Thermaltake and Coolermaster also have some good cases. Make sure you want fan only and no water as option in the future. Otherwise you may find yourself some trouble.

Buy Vista only if you want DX10. Otherwise not recommended. There will be time when games take advantage of 64bit, but I doubt that it will happen before you move up to 32nm Nehalem and Windows 7.

DVD-RW: they cost next to nothing nowadays.

CPU cooler: get a good one that cools well and operates quiet. Read newegg review and deals to decide. If you go with E8500, then you can live with a crappy HSF. If you decide to overclock Q6600 to >3.2GHz, better get a Zalman 9700.

Water cooling burns your wallet. You need following components:

                        CPU water block
                        GPU water block
                        Polyethelene tubes
                        Y fork for tubes
                        Radiator/Heat exchanger
                        Coolant pump
                        Coolant
                        Coolant reservoir
                        HDD water block (optional)
                        RAM water block (optional)
                        Water cooled PSU (optional)
nozzles (depending on your whole water cooling set)
A small case fan (yes, you still need at least one case fan)

Whole water cooling kit from Coolance costs $250, and additional nozzles and blocks will be charged independently. Of course you can always go DIY on the cheap, but you need to know what you're doing. You can always get same stuff from McMaster and junk yards with cheaper cost, but you need to find some welding service to get stuff done. You can get coolant pump and reservoir from aquarium stuff. Nevertheless, I don't see it as cost-effective way for a gaming computer. Learn how to assemble one first, then think about water cooling if you REALLY want one. I don't really see the advantage of water cooling for the system that you're gonna build. Usually people go water cooling for extreme overclocking or extreme noise control (or e-peen). For extreme overclocking, these people always drive the CPU to suicide voltage. For extreme noise control, they modify PSUs to water cooling, which is not a good idea for your newly-bought 850W PSU (warranty issue, and you REALLY need to know what you're doing in this case). Also don't forget to add yourself a water flow switch as your insurance policy.

Just so you don't have inflated hopes, this PC isn't going to be spanking games for much more than 18 months- 2 years, if that.

                              E8400/8500 + HD 4870 maybe?

Either way $1800 is plenty of money for a rig.
