after seeing everyones suggestions and my personal taste this is what im considering at this point

the only thing i would concern about is the compatibility of all the parts i see most of the stuff has "ATX" somewhere so im pretty sure that the psu has the right plugs for everything and that the motherboard works with the psu and everything should fit in the case.

the mobo has alot of slots on it for the cards i want and if i wanted SLi later or something

im pretty sure the psu supplies enough power though i could probably go to a psu calculator and find out for myself

im hoping everything works with vista 64 bit

the cpu is LGA 775 and the mobo has LGA 775 slot but i think alot of boards do

the ram is the right type for the mobo im pretty sure




anything important i should know? anything BAD happened to any of you putting together a certain setup?

YOU CAN'T DO SLI ON NON-NVIDIA MOTHERBOARDS. ONLY ATI CROSSFIRE IS SUPPORTED ON INTEL MOTHERBOARDS (for now). :salute:

ok so i could get a Radeon HD 4870 512MB instead for that motherboard. i read that it gets really hot im just kind of concerned about that

then..eh i dont know if im going to SLi anything i figure 1 GOOD gpu will do a fine job

also im really debating whether its worth it to get the Q9450 i mean it does look like the ownage but then there is the Q6600 that you talked about and then i was looking at the E8500 3.16Ghz. im not going to do an attrocious amount of video editing and multitasking domination isnt incredibly important.

Im just wondering what kind of performance difference i will get in-game comparing these processors. if i could spend less money on the E8500 and get the same kind of framerate result i would go for that option.

what do you think?

The performance on games doesn't differ that much. They both OC well, though Q6600 runs a bit hot and use a bit more power. E8500 performs superb in games, but if you do a lot video encoding, you might want a quad-core. Otherwise you won't feel a thing. If you plan to do fraps on newer games, which uses more than one core, than more cores is definately better. Look at my system tag and you know what I'll suggest. Go cheaper. There's no reason to be ripped off by Intel.

4870 doesn't run that hot. It was the driver that lowers the fan speed. It can be tuned up. The reason for low fan speed is to decrease fan noise. I have yet to heard of a 4870 destroyed itself by overheating. Your case have lots of fans and good air flow (if you assemble them right), so don't worry about that.

BTW, I did have an NVIDIA mobo, actually I'm running another one, but this one is entry level stuff. 780i and 790i still have some issues. Experienced builder can overcome and deal with it, but I can't recommend it to new builders.

Coolmaster RC-690 (mainly caus i liked where the psu would be. on the floor.)
Seagate 320GB 7200rmp HD

also a nice x-fi sound card for little less than $100 bucks

i know ill probably buy other stuff that the need for will pop up but right here i got a price of $1450. this is pretty good. i can upgrade later if i want. but for now i just need to find out how to buy stuff with a credit card. lol ive been using all of my free time looking at stuff and NOT PLAYING. itl be worth it though i suppose

ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA X48 mobo comes with a SupermeFX II card. You don't need an extra X-FI card. You only need multi-channel sound system if you have home theater system.

You don't really downgrade with a E8400 because if he overclocks you can reach up to 4Ghz with the proper equipment.
