That makes two of us. I used to use it, I had enjoyed it, but then one day it decided it didn't like my music and proceeded to delete all of it. A little over 32GB gone without warning, and with somehow bypassing my recycle bin as well.

That was a fun time after that happened.

I wish I was. This was a few months back though, something around 8 or more months ago now.

I had started up iTunes, and nothing was there. Well, it was there for a minute and then gone. I thought it was just doing its typical thing of forgetting where my music was stored and went searching for it. Nada.

Cue several months later and I'm only now finally done dealing with that. I used a data recovery program initially to try and save time. But that produced a ton of junk and incomplete files. Some albums and such were good, but not everything. The data recovery also produced a lot of deeply embedded files and folders (I'm talking about hundreds of folders deep) that took hours to delete due to some really funky issues with how deeply they were embedded and how Windows handles long file paths being sent to the recycle bin.

I don't even bother with iTunes when I sync up my iPod anymore. I just use WinAmp to play my songs and Floola for sync'ing. I'm sure my case is fairly unique, but I'm not going to really chance it again.

Same happened to me yesterday. I got really pissed off because once I plugged my ipod in and planned to move my music off of it back into Itunes it synced without warning and made my Ipod match my library (erased everything). luckily I had ran into something like this before and I had all my music files in a separate folder on my comp. I got everything back but I had to manually move all my music from that folder to itunes one song at a time. Took me about an hour plus all my play lists have been deleted along with play counts and ratings not like those mattered that much but it was still a pain in the ***.

It really made me angry was I am one of the honest people who actually pays for their music and I would be incredibly pissed since I paid a couple hundred dollars for all that music if Apple just ****ed up. Don't ****ing ***** about people downloading music illegaly if you can't make a system to download it legally.

As you can tell from my anger I am still about sore about this.

Been using it for four years +, never had that issue, but I back everything important up on a external HDD. :)
