    Scratched GTA4

    Hey,

Just recently i bought GTA4 and the first time i played it my xbox scratched it bad enough for it to be unplayable.. This isn't the first time either, it has also scratched CoD4 and CoD3..After i had already sent it back to xbox for repair..

Anyway i just got off the phone arguing with one of the xbox support managers and he said they cannot replace any non Microsoft games that are damaged by the xbox360 EVEN if it is faulty..:shakehead:

The xbox hasn't been moved while there is a game inside or anything like that, it is in the same spot it has been since i got it home. So i was wondering if any of u guys have had a similar problem or can give me some advice as to what i can do because i REALLY don't want to pay $100 for another copy of the game, and the scratch is pretty bad i don't even think if i got it cleaned it would work

If it keeps on scratching games try using those dSkin protectors on all your future games so you won't have to purchase new ones. Also make sure you Xbox is on a level surface, not on a slant or anything.

What I would recommend is, purchase a new Xbox and return your current one in that box to a different store. Make sure you open it nicely though and switch the serial key stickers on the back of them.

I will outline the problems here

        A. You have an Xbox which is the worst and costumer Help and Service with them is horrible

        B. You dont have a PS3 J/ks

        I have 2 Suggestions:

        1. Take the GTA back to the store you got it from and see if it can be replaced or sent away.

        2. Sell you Xbox and get a PS3 with GTA

^out of curiosity, why do you have to completely downtrod the 360?(apart from customer service, I hear that is bad too) the ps3 has its ups and downs as well, neither are perfect. For us at home my brother and I were trying to decide on either, people my age said ps3, people his age (20) said 360. He went with the cheaper option.

Edit: cryptik PM'd me yesterday about the 360's probs and he almost put me off 360

At least the PS3 doesn't have such major hardware problems...
If I was you I wouldn't use that console again just get a new XBox 360 rather then try to fix the old one.

Well... Microsoft screwed him over by giving him a crappy console so why not return the favor? Anyway, I thought they send the console back to Microsoft or something when ever one is returned? At least that's what I heard.

Not sure if your aware but this "scratching" is the laser of your 360 getting too close to the disc, this is typically down to the 360 been shifting around, and burning it hence why the "scratch" is a perfect circle. There are very few 360s that are just faulty without some form of human or gravitational intervention. If your 360 is within warranty from the store you bought it from this is a manufacture issue so they should replace it. Don't expect them to replace your games though.

Could be that don't stock those games? Or they're dodging the buck.

Ensure that your 360 is on a flat surface, that will be very difficult to be moved. Also keeping it horizontal this way it's even more difficult for the laser to burn your disks.

? Like a Trade? Harsh. If your talking about returning it as faulty then fair do's. Otherwise your mean :dead:

I've never had a PS3 come back with laser burn, or the red rings for that matter. Reliability wise it's far superior, the 360 was a typical MS balls-up throw enough money at it and you'll salvage your reputation from the cesspit.

I have already done that once before... yes this is my second xbox

Anyway im not worried about the xbox their going to either fix or replace it in the coming weeks, its the brand new $100 game i have played once that im worried about.. the only thing i can think of is taking it down the road to the video store and giving them $5 to clean it with their machine i might get lucky and it might fix it.

But honestly this is bs! xbox should replace any damagaed games IF they determine the xbox IS faulty.. Also when they finally do replace a game they carge $27 each replacement fee.. now thats just bs

Enigma: i do realize the scratching is from the laser but the xbox has always been on a sturdy platform and NEVER moved while there has been a game inside otherwise i would have just put this problem down to my own stupidity.. And the store here wont replace the xbox, they have like a two week replacement warranty, after which the xbox has to be sent to the "xbox repair center"..

I mean purchasing a brand new one from Game Stop or any other store and putting your current one in the box and then returning it. Pretty much returning your old one in the new box, saying "my grandson didn't like it."

I've had an Xbox 360 for over 2 years now and have never had a problem with it. Never scratched my games, never got the red rings of death, never had to have it repaired. I guess it's just your luck on getting a console that doesn't fail.

From what cryptik PM'd me Im just hoping only some consoles had the problem, not all and newer products have solved the problem.

If you still havent sorted this, you can be really deceitful and sneaky by renting out GTA4 from the video store, switching the disks and trust me, when you hand them back they dont check for weeks.

But thats only if you want to go to hell
