If you cant afford an 8800GT then you cannot afford a PC at all.

There has never been a better bang for your buck than the 8800GT. Its around $160 after m/r's. Getting amazing performance used to cost 300+, but now we have the 8800GT :)

Also, what happens if you want to play a game that comes out in a year and you find out that your PC cant play it because you decided to not spend the extra $80-85 a year ago. :P

It's no coincidence these guys all say the same thing. You might as well take their advice if you can afford it.

If you can't, then go with the 3650, but you'll regret it in the long run.

In short:
8600GT = Fail

8600GT XXX = XXX Fail

I have one, but I had very specific hardware requirements which prevented me from getting anything better, and I'll be getting a 9900 GTX in due course.

HD3650, HD3850, GeForce 9600GT, 88GS.

All these cards are budget cards, the 88GT too, i would not recommend a 86GT it is a bad choice target the HD3*** of ATi they are pretty good including the HD38s. I understand the games you posted, they will run fine under a 512MB card from one of the above.

And i totally agree with Jake, Cloakster, Wizrdwarts on their sayings on this. Even Flt. Sgt. Powderhound said the 86GT is not that good.

I understand what everyone is saying when they saying when they get a 9600gt/8800gt etc. But I also understand the OP when he (or she ) simply doesn't have or want to spend that kind of money.

So, before I make my recommendation, I ask the OP: What video card do you currently have?

Eagle: I wouldn't say the 8800GT is a budget card, I'd say mid-range, since there's nothing between that and high-end 8800GTS/GTX.

x+95: HD 3650, but only if you get if cheap, like below $60.

The overall point that everyone is making is that even at budget prices, the card isn't worth the investment. But clearly, you have nothing right now, and can't pay more than $90.

So midrange 9600GT (and above) is out of the question. That leaves the low-end cards. 2600XT, 3650, 8600GT. Here is a review of the 3650. The final conclusion is that all three budget cards are essentially equal, FWIW.

Since you only have integrated, I say upgrade to a 2600XT, 3650 or a 8600GT. (it must have GDDR3) And it better be cheap. If you pay over $50, its not worth it. Here are some cards at Newegg. Any on the first ones are fine. Better yet, a card off Ebay would work out great. You're only using it for 6 months.

Oh, and the difference between 256MB and 512MB is irrelevant because none of these GPUs can use that much Vram anyways.

And Wizardwarts, sorry i was not being clear enough in my terms a budget card would be defined as affordable, so what i meant was that the 88GT nowadays is affordable to people on budgets and people that are willing to get a "Bang for the buck" deal. Again sorry for being not clear on this

As i have said, i do apologize greatly about this i was setting up a presentation and getting some pics from facebook for my archives and by mistake i posted the pic here lol please forgive me ever1 especially i am sorry to you OP.

HD3650/86GT i personally would take Nvidia but it all scales down to performance. GDDR3 is a must as Spark said.

I support Jake by getting a 512MB version.
