theres the E7200 which sells at a acceptable price range imo, and you better be careful with picking a PSU that PSU can seriously harm your PC, i cant suggest any now as i just woke up and am on my way to Uni argh mondays :S

Ahh yeah. I just went to newegg and picked the one closest to the price of his current CPU. The e7200 is better because it has a 45nm insteald of 65nm die. Smaller is cooler and better. :)

I thought we went over the whole PSU thing once. :p I would suggest the Corsair 520hx, personally.

^^ oops sry i did not notice the PSU thing being dealt with lol excuse me. Anyways yeah the CPU is very good and a helluva lot better than the E4500. And that PSU that Jake recommended the Corsair one will NOT let you down

That baby is better than you're current choice and will easily overclock over 3.0 GHz.
(its not the best, but the cheapest I could find on newegg)
I dunno about mobo's for around $50 though. I would shell out anothe $50 and get a Asus P5k if you can afford it.

He's right, I've also been told to switch from AMD to Intel... so got a E8400 instead of a AMD 6000.
btw, if you do get a Intel with a gigabyte mobo, you better be patient... those stupid Intel pushpins legs are freakin hard to fix on the mobo, dont know if it's only with gigabyte ... otherwise get a cheap seperate heatsink

btw, wolfdale processors are ideal for gaming... with those new 45nm model.. they run very cool, be sure to get the right monitor software though.
And the corsair PSU jake recommended are perfect. remember : modular PSU are always recommended; it saved me life... mon PC panel won't close if it wasn't modular..

I'm not bothering with links. Everything is from newegg.

Case- Cooler Master Centurion 535- $50
PSU- Corsair 450VX- $80-10
Mobo- Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L- $90
CPU- Intel E7200- $135
Heatsink- Arctic Cooling Freeze 7- $30
RAM- 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2-800 [Pick any brand]- $30
GPU- Cheapest 9600GT- $130
HDD- Whatever you need- $65
Optical- DVD Burner [brand doesn't matter]- $30
LCD- Acer AL2016WBbd - $200

Total:$830

For the Case, RAM and DVD Burner, brand doesn't matter. Just try to stay in the advised price range.

Yeah its over budget. If you can't afford this than cut in this order:
1) Drop LCD down to 19". Saves $50
2) Drop PSU for that 500W OCZ. (I can still live with OCZ PSU's) Saves ~30
3) If you're still stuck, drop the CPU down to a E2200. That saves $50
4) Drop 9600GT for a 3850. Saves $20.
Anything less isn't worth it.

Keep in mind guys, this isn't a setup for me but my friend - which is not a big gamer so he doesn't need to spend extra cash for the little extra performance boost. He only plays like America's Army and Counter-Strike: Source. Not to mention he's 17 and still in high school, that's why the budget is so low.

Also, there will NOT be any over clocking in this setup. As for the AMD and Intel issue - I he should go with Intel that's why I asked if anyone could give me an Intel setup that's equal or greater performance for the same price as the AMD one I selected.

If he isn't going to overclock at all, he doesn't need an aftermarket CPU cooler, quite pointless actually. That's another $30 saved.

I agree that setup you posted Sam is quite good and the price ain't bad the one the Spark Posted is good also but i understand you want to keep it within the 700 limit so the one you posted recently looks like the best buy imho.

Yah the one I posted is Sparks setup with the things he said could be downgraded. Not sure exactly if how much he wants to spend, but if he's willing to spend more I guess he can just upgrade to the better parts you guys listed.

Sam and Spark both have very good lists, so all we really need to do is combine them to make one solid rig.

Im sure we can all agree on a P35 mobo + a 9600GT.

I believe that no matter if we get a 65nm or 45nm Intel, the bottleneck will still be the 9600GT, so i dont find the point in spending $20 more to get a E7200. The E4600 will do a good job, and he can easily overclock it if he has to.

A 19" widescreen + a 500W psu + a ACF 7 + a Cooler Master Centurion + any DVD burner is good.
