Wow, if the price tag was reasonable. Either way seriously liking the sounds of this been in the market for another/more HDDs for a little while now. Can't wait for the price to drop! :)

The funny thing about how people go ga-ga for Raptors is: there are 15,000 RPM SCSI drives and have been for years. They cost more, sometimes a lot more, but rock. Not that many people have SCSI controllers in their home computers...

Well your lookin at mid may for this to come out and its good they are pushing the size of the drive.. 16meg cache should be pushed higher but ok I can work with that.. its 2.5 but for the cooling its pushed to a full size of 3.5 which is ok too as cooling is very important.

The end result is they need to focus on the SSD drives and bring those prices down along with pushing capacity up. I've already got a computer loaded with XP on a 16gig flash drive and talk about fast!

Have they noticed that for the same price you can get two 150GB first gen raptors and put them in Raid0 for the same space and even greater speed.

that defeats the purpose of going with a single drive which will use less power than your two in Raid0.

Heh, hard disks use very little power. For the same price you could get similar performance and a lot more space, although, not as cool looks.

But, hard disks are usually hidden away.

energy savings are important for a system builder... and they do use a considerable amount of power plus two running would give double the heat which is even more of a concern to a system builder.

These will be very nice to have but I wouldn't jump to them till at least a few months after release as the first batch will obviously be flawed much like the release of the first Raptors when they came out...I don't guess anyone remembers that do they? LOL

haha. People worry about CPU and GPU temps, not hard disks. That's only a concern if your case really is shocking at cooling.

And, chances are if they are running at least one new raptor, they have other powerful kit in their case, and hard disks are the least of their concerns.

You make me laugh sometimes Sava :thumbsup:
