For a gaming machine anything over 20 is too many... kill services that you don't need like if your on a desktop and not wireless then turn off that service, makes sense if your not using it then turn it off...like lights in your home. Out of 5 computers in my home not a one is running anything over 35 and the pc i'm on right now at my desk at work is only running 34 and thats with a script logic controller and being setup through a domain network. Automatic updates..turn em off, run it manually as you get time or on patch tuesday...System restore is a must go as its pointless to use and will only cause file corruption..best to just make a "Image" of the drive using something like Ghost or Acronis, put it on a disk when you get a chance and use that to go back to if you run into a issue.
