Why does vista have so many processes?

        48 here.

Here's an idea, don't worry about it. Vista isn't XP, there is little to no benefit to "tweaking" services. As far as "tweaking services goes, disable the right one (or wrong one depending on how you look at it) and it will have an affect on how Vista performs, just not the affect you were expecting as things start to run worse.

61 processes and 31% of RAM for me.

It's just how vista rolls. :llamadance:

How come your RAM usage is so close to mine?

Game performance is probably hurt more by the fact that you have a 8600 and a slower AMD CPU>

I can run games like BioShock on full gfx with no performance issues and only 2 GB of RAM, but I have a better proc and gfx card than you.

That's just how vista is. I love it though and would never go back to XP.

Vista even after SP1 doesn't compare to the lower amount of resources XP offers... I've got my Gaming rig Xp pro running down to 12 running processes right now... I've only got SP2 and no updates installed at this point as I'm waiting on SP3 today but to be honest..anything over 20 is too much.

50 processes is fine, as long as they are not draining memory or CPU time.

As OS's become more advanced, and computers become more powerful, you can run more at one time.

55 processes and 28% RAM usage (downloading a few vids through Azureus atm)
