ok thanks. right now i'm gonna see if I get find a brand name (antec, thermaltake, corsair, etc) on sale for $50 or less.

Are "coolmax", and "Ultra" respectable brands?

My motto is that when you buy a PSU. I a good one which will last a loooong time and can handle a few surprises in the future also.

so far that's the cheapest brand name one I've found, and looks like it may be the one I get if I decide to get the 8800GS.

Does that PSU (http://www.directcanada.com/products...e=COOLERMASTER) have the right connectors I need? I've got my mobo and other specs on the side there if needed.

I was told the power supply needs to have a minimum of four SATA and a PCIe power connectors. Does that one of those things?

No. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying that PSU is a component (for me at least) which is going to be a permanent member of my setup for time to come so I use extra care and time to get a good one. The comment was made to that direction. Yours seem good. I have no personal experience with Antec's PSUs so I can't say anything good or bad about it.

Yeh, so far so good.... Have been running good with my set-up, and a pair of blue cathodes.

I realised exactly that, so instead of buying one of those ones for $50 or less from thermaltake or coolermaster, I ended up getting an OCZ stealthxstream 600W quad +12V(18A each) for $75, after a $10 rebate. This is more than enough for my upcoming 8800GS, and it will be good enough to go into a new build in a year or so

Although, right now I'm having some problems with it where the fan stays at 100% when it shouldn't. (even after several computer shut downs, and unplugs, the fan still stays at 100%) OCZ has acknowledged this and said that one of their shipments to all retailers had a few defective units and I just so happened to get one. An exchange at the store should hopefully fix this :)
