Ok guys, 500 watt PSU is now in...

The sound of something starting up was indeed the fan on the gfx card, but with the new PSU the game doesn't begin to stutter (it's seamless) and no crashes... perhaps (and stand me correct) the extra power on the fan coming on was bringing it over or something... I dunno, whatever, it works brilliantly now. :)

It is not the better choice for most people. Most people do not even know where to start to build a computer. Most people will screw up building a computer. When you have a problem with a home-built computer, unless you're a geek, like most people here. You will not even know where to start. With a pre-built, you send the whole thing in, they send a new one back with everything new... And 99.99% of the time it's problem fixed at no additional cost.

I've been building and breaking computers (much to the dismay of my parents) just so i can rebuild them again since I was 9. The satisfaction you get from building it yourself and having it work is way beyond just being lazy and ignoring the clear fact that it is truly NOT THAT HARD. If people are too arrogant to ask for help then i guess they can waste their time with pre-builts. Other than that though I don't think many people with even the smallest amount of gaming computer experience would rather have a pre-built over a self-built. A computer for the office? Go ahead and get a Dell. A computer to play games? Grow some guts and build it yourself. Trust me. You'll like it!

Sorry Vash, but I have to disagree slightly here.

I've been programming computers since i was 9. I never got in to the hardware myself. I spent my time writing code and making the hardware do something. I can fit a graphics card. I can fit memory. I can clean fans... build a PC from scratch? A bit out of my league.

Now you could argue I could learn to do it. I have lots on my plate in my life right now. Married, 2 kits, and a hectic programming job. I spend my FREE time playing games like COD4. I don't have the time to learn how to build my own PC from scratch.

There are guys who can do this and I have nothing but respect for them, and I go to the guys when I need that kind of stuff being done, and I pay them good money to do so.

To call us arrogant, I think is slightly misplaced. :)

It wasn't the fans that brought it the PSU on it's knees. They use from 2-5W. It was the transition from 2D desktop to 3D gaming demanding much more juice out the PSU that caused your problems.
