For the video card, why not wait until the 9800 GX2 comes out and see how it performs?

yeah sure 40 inch so i cant sit around 5 meters of it without getting blind

well u could get an 88 for now probably the one u mentioned the 88GTS G92, then get the 98GX2 or GTX and whatnot, as for the monitor, i own a 26" which is not big nor blinding lol, i don't know bout 30" but 26s aren't bad at all!

BTW, the 9800 is coming out in like a day or two, right? So no big deal, unless you plan on buying everything asap.

why dont you wait an see what the benchs are like 1st before telling people to wait, the card he has is from evga so he's entitled to the step-up program, so if its any good he could still get it.

Well, if your planning on building a computer yourself and you don't know what a motherboard is, you probably want to hold off buying all this expensive stuff and do some homework.

I made my first build this past November and I put in many hours of research and watched a lot of videos on "how to build" before I even decided on components.

You can see my specs and minus the graphics card I paid less than $1,000 (US). At your age you should put 90% of that into a savings account or possibly a Roth IRA. But, it is your money so do what you wish.

The 8800 GT did...

and I think its only the 9600 GT and the 9800 GX2 that are coming out pretty soon. Others have at least a few more months.

9800GX2 is 2 G92's slapped together with a SLi bridge.

A few sites have info on the 9800gtx, but i'm not sure whether that will be released at the same time as 9600 and GX2.

I suspect not as it would take sales from the new flagship card.

Aww the 9800GX2 will not be showcased at CeBit..Nvidia have told them not to showcase it..It will be released March 11th whilst the partners will receive reference cards about a week before the launch...
