    Lottery PC

ok now> i won 5000 bucks from some kind of a new year lottery and havent touched a single cent of it..

i decided to build up a PC..i checked desktop pcs components on e-bay and here is what i ve in my mind:

Sound Card>>> Creative Labs SoundBlaster SD055a xfi elite:450$

Graphic Card>>> PNY nvidia Quadra fx5600 pcie 1.5 gb vcqfx5600-pcieb:2.500$

    Motherboard>>> Intelcore 2 Extreme Qx 9650 Processor 3.0 GHZ 12 MB Cache: 900 bucks

    Memory>>> 4 GB DDR2 ECC PC5300 : 300 $

    Case>>>
thermal cooling aliminuim case:325 $ plus extra nytrogen cooler 170$

100$ goes to power supplies..(for graphics card)

i already have 200 gb SATA HDD in pack..

100 goes to detailed components(xp blabla)
    so it is=100+100+300+900+2500+450=4350

Monitor>>> NEW Samsung 22" Widescreen Black Flat Panel LCD:350= 4700

the best thing is my dads gonna pay %25 of whole this cause its comin to my birthday..i will have enough money and more for shipment..

    so my questions..

    is this a good fix/mix?

    is it competiable?

good enough for a long time?

money is ok?not expensive for these features right?

    xp or vista?

dual core or single 3.2 ghz?

    sound and graphics card?

    memory ok?

in general: what would you build as an uber l33t pc if you had 5 000 in pocket?

    awaiting your opinions:salute:

Errm.. you gonna be using this for gaming? If so take out that quadro...did you pick it because it was the most expensive?

    OK here goes

    Sound card: fine

    Gfx card: 2x 8800Ultras

Youve also stated that the motherboard is the cpu....Im quite worried atm of you building this monster PC with your lack of knowledge...

Motherboard...get like either a p35 chipset...DFI, asus and whatnot make good mobos...

Memory: Once again PC5300?!??! Get some corsair for cheap or OCZ or Mushkin...DDR2 Ofc

Case: ermmm..youre gonna get a nitrogen cooler? Do you even know what that is?!?

No, that is a Graphics card for people who use CAD and such it is no good for gaming, something like a 8800 GT/GTS 512Mb would be more suited.

      CPU>>> Intelcore 2 Extreme Qx 9650 Processor 3.0 GHZ 12 MB Cache: 900 bucks

Meh its alright would save the cash and spend it on a Q9450/Q9550

      Memory>>> 4 GB DDR2 ECC PC5300 : 300 $

Go for Faster Ram depending on the motherboard you get either DDR2-800 / DDR2-1200

Motherboard>>> X38 Board there are a few to choose from,

      Case>>>
thermal cooling aliminuim case:325 $ plus extra nytrogen cooler 170$

Why?!?, depends on what you want Air or Watercooling

100$ goes to power supplies..(for graphics card)

Mainly depends on the Graphics card you choose, and case you decide to get 600w is a safe bet

i already have 200 gb SATA HDD in pack..

Monitor>>> NEW Samsung 22" Widescreen Black Flat Panel LCD:350= 4700
You dont have to break the bank because you won some money, by the time you buy all this in a few months something new will come out and u will wonder why you spent so much

Damn you beat me to it haha

The Quadros' were built for rendering, modeling, and multi monitor set-ups

(Just read up on them )

Tip: Buy a good motherboard that can handle a lot of upgrades and your computer will last a few years.

Buy a good (over 3 GHz at least) Dual Core except for a Quad Core. Unless you want it future-proof, but it's gonna be some time before Dual Cores are obsolete.

Buy an 8800 GT and save money so you can upgrade to a 9 series card instead. Sure, the Ultra/GTX is more powerful but it will be outdated soon anyway. The card you picked up is completely useless as it's no good for gaming.

          My tips.

Q9450/Q9550 will probably an additional $100-$200,, E8500 will be slighty less, (why is the US behind on CPU's lol)

Would need something like 2x 24" Monitors, instead of the single 22"

If I won $5000 and was going to spend it on a computer, I'd wait for the new nvidia 9 series came out, then get the best one. I'd also get the best new quad core from intel, the best DDR3 RAM, 780i mobo, one of those 300GB 15,000RPM hard drives, dunno what case, but something expensive, and then either 26" or 30" monitor. oh and whatever psu would be good enough for all this

If I wasn't going to spend the money on a computer, then I'd probably buy a used car

Camper would whoop asss around here. Its foolish to buy components if you dont even know what a motherboard is, let alone CPU.

e-Bay pre-built PC setup. All they need is "maybe" a change/extra in coolers.
