Mid-range is actually £60-£120 judging by the pricing of all the x600 cards. The price obviously will go down sooner or later.

I hope they will make it dual slot cooling solution. Those single slot solutions are not up to bar IMO.

Somehow I get the feeling that nvidia is going to milk the audience dry: 9600GT soon -> 1-2 months 9800 series with only $20 extra on the price tag and superior product.

If you got 8800 series I would not jump the gun straight after the release, but wait a bit.

Um.. there are more details out about the 9800 series than the 9600 series atm, and they're going to be released at the same time. The 9800 is dual slot, but this is because it is a dual GPU solution, There aren't any details about the 9600, but it'll probably be single slot again like most of nVidia's mid range offerings.

i think you're talking about the 9800GX2 that's been announced as dual GPU

Sorry, the GX2 is the only 9800 card that's been announced. :)

well look at the plus side then prices on the 88s are bound to go down.

yeh i ment the power its packing, sure the price aint our cup of tea, but the card looks good in terms of performance i think if u give it time it will go down, for me i can just order it from the states cuz the dollar to the dinar is pretty cheap!

those specs look impresive, but i dont think there for a 9600gt??

the site showing the benchmarks says its a 512mb card not 1024

as for a teraflop of procesing power? and 3870x2 just goes over that score..again confused?

and the benchmarks are against cards with less than 512..(so it comes out on top?)

im sure a 512 3850 would do a bit better(cant coment on the other cards)

to me it looks like the 9600gt is a good replacement for the low end market..i.e upgrading one of the card in the op benchmark.

tba i think those specs you posted are either

                          A.9800x2

                          or

B.a new single card from nvidia 9800gtx/ultra

dont think its B. as ive only hear about A.

price based on the OP benchmark link 70-100 uk

price based on 9800x2 type specs ive quoted from you -400-600
