9600GT & 8800GS benchmarks

I came across this website that compares the 9600GT, 8800GS, 8600GTS and HD3850.

looks like the 9600GT is about the same as the 8800GS in most cases, and sometimes even better, and the 8800GS isn't too far behind the 8800GT. seems like good news?

i honestly don't know what the price would be... i'm thinking like MAYBE $200 - 300?

that new 3870X2 is like $450 so I'm basing the estimate on that

i think slightly better than an 88gt with specs higher clocks mebeh and higher number of stream processor.

9600GT does not seem to be a huge improvement to me. I wonder what their specs will be besides the memory.

well, no, because you've got an 8800 card. the 9800 should be the big improvement you're looking for. The x600GT series are usually mid-range, so the fact the 9600GT, which will hopefully be mid-range compared to the 9800s, is up to par with 8800GS/GT is a good sign

W0w thnx trevortt for laying that out, the fact that its a nine series it shouldent be bad guys it should be the best mid range card around and its packing as trevortt posted 1gig of GDDR4!! now thats awesome for a mid range card!and the price 200GBP aint that bad for a next gen card!

But is it really that useful? I don't think so.

They should give it a healthy 512mb RAM and cut the cost of each card.

The 9600GT looks to be a huge improvement. Free 4XAA means 4X free RAM not being taken up by anti-aliasing. And you then you have a better & faster memory interface on top.

What this looks like is an ideal candidate for high-res, low settings gaming. Unlike the 7600GT or 8600GT, the numbers imply it should have no problem handing decent resolutions.

I would hardly count £200 mid range.

For me, that area is between £100-£150.
