Vista SP1 RC First Impressions

I installed last night and everything seems to be going faster, but oddest of all I had 12GB free on my HDD before install, now i have 32GB free after the installation!

Copy and pasting large files is faster as well as extracting

It removed the button on the side of the start bar that said "Search" (That button is pointless as there is a search bar below the list of programs)

Overall I'm happy with it so far.

I will update the post for gaming stuff after i try a few more games

Reported Size Of System Memory

With SP1, Windows Vista will report the amount of system memory installed rather than report the amount of system memory available to the OS. Therefore 32-bit systems equipped with 4GB of RAM will report all 4GB in many places throughout the OS, such as the System Control Panel. However, this behavior is dependent on having a compatible BIOS, so not all users may notice this change.

That's going to confuse people. Vista will see the 4gb.... but it can't use it all....

They should just whack out some kind of PAE to enable full functionality.

It gives 64GB (virtual) available to Windows and 4GB per process.

I'm surprised that doesn't mess programs up...

Dx10.1 doesn't add anything new i don't think, it just makes it easier for designers.
