nVidia 9 Series to be released in Feb? (will it work wonders for Crysis)

Ok as title says the have been some speculation that nVidia have confirmed that the 9 series GPU's will be released in February but I have found no proof of this so far.

The 9 series will have same ram as the 8800GTX/Ultra (which is 768mb), but will include a new Chipset already used in the 8800 GT, G92.
Only the 9 series will be able to run Dx10.1

I got to thinking if the 8800GT use and utilizes the same chipset as the 9 series will there be much of a difference. And will the GX2 be the same.

So people get to speculating.

One thing I am sure about is that the 9 series are NOT going to use the same ram, they would be either 512 or 1024. All I know is that I am saving up some money and I am gona get one cause I wana play crysis at 1920 by 1200 ultra high.

But it will be interesting on how it will affect the prices on the 8800 series

we shall see how well it performs, if it is true that its coming in Feb we should see some benchmarks early next year.

It won't affect much. You just get a better 9xxx series card for the same price range, so it makes you look dumb if you buy a 8800 instead of more powerful 9xxx for about the same price. Maybe after 1-2 years the 8800 prices have dropped if you are able to buy one at that time.

Unless they seriously increase the shader processors then 9xxx will perform pretty much the same. There was a review on 8800GTS 512 which was OCed to 800MHz core and 2050MHz mem if I remember correctly so we are going to see some serious factory OCed cards coming out shortly. And 9xxx will prolly have some 700 default for core to begin with.

I'd expect most people will be able to sell a 8800GTX model for around 400$ US perhaps even more if you unload it within a week of the new cards release.

Wonder if they will use this new GDDDR5 or whether they'll stick with GDDR4?

GDDR5 is too expensive atm. And they still have not really realized the full potential of the GDDR4.

Nvidia has no intentions of making the killer card because they would miss the money makers i.e. small up-grades.

Yes they do, especially on their newer cards.
