7600GT- Worth it

OK, first a bit of background:
My PC is a two year old Dell, with a P4 3GHz and 1GB of 400MHz RAM. It currently has a 256MB 7300GT, and I'm considering replacing it. There's no point in me getting a DX10 card, since I've no intention of getting Vista until June next year when I'm building a new top spec machine. My PSU has neither a PCI-e connector or two free molexes, and I don't really want to replace it.
So, would you say it's worth upgrading to a 7600GT at htis point in time?

I would get more ram, atleast another 1GB and then save some cash for a better PSU, and then get a decent 8800GT which are about £150. No matter if your going to use DX10 or not, a DX10 card will blow any DX9 game out of the window, its well worth it.

Thats not worth it, if hes going to change that many parts it would be worth building a newer computer which he said hes building a long time from now.

I tell you what is not worth it, and thats upgrading the gfx card to a decent one but then having the ram as a bottleneck along with poor power from a crappy PSU.

He is only changing two parts and that is his gfx card & PSU unless you want him to get a decent gfx card and stick with a poor PSU and have him blow all of his computer then thats fine.

I still recommend another 1GB RAM you can get them for £20 these days unless you want performance about £35 if someone charges you more than that you are being ripped off.

And a decent PSU something from the likes of, Tagan, Akasa, CoolerMaster, OCZ, Corsair will be handy.

Sorry, I was in a hurry because I had to get to a concert and forgot to put some details in. OK: I'm on a low budget- my parents are paying.
I'm going to get 2 GB of 533MHz RAM (Best my mobo can support), but I'm not sure whether to also bother with the new GPU. I mainly play FSX and IL2 Sturmovik, but go for a pwning spree in Battlefield 2/ 2142 occasionally. Do you think that the performance boost over a 7300 GT would be worth the £40?

And, as I said before, I'll be spending around £1200 to get myself a high end machine after my exams are over- I just want something to tide me over until then.

Well you've lasted this long with your current machine. Save up the money, or use it for something else. FSX :Accel ftw

Keep saving 'til you have more money to buy better stuff - I saved money for 5 years to buy the comp I have now. Totally worth it.
