I'd say just save your money for your big build too. It might be annoying for now, but you'll be a lot happier when you can get the next graphics card up or whatever because you saved the money.

I have a 7600 gt, and it's getting sort of old now. I can only play COD4 on low/medium settings @ around 30-40 fps.

I would say save up and get an 8800gt, which is what I'm doing for Christmas.

Grrr, you guys don't get it. All I'm saying is save up!! Get your 7600GT if you really want it but nothing more! Buying an 8800GT for the system you have now is not worth it!

To all those who are saying get the 8800, I've already said that my PSU won;t support it, and as a six-month stop gap (when my gaming will be limited anyway), it isn't worth the hassle of switching that as well. I may consider the 8600GT; any thoughts on that? I know I'm not getting vista, but would the performance boost in XP be worth the money in your opinion?

I'd say just stick with what you've got for now and then use the money to build the PC you really want in 6 months time

I'm definitely getting the RAM for Christmas (Along with a Saitek X52 Pro. :yay: ). I'll see if my parents will stretch to the GPU as well.

Exactly; There's no point in me spending ~£1200 on a new PC at the moment because I've got two rounds of AS modules, GCSE mocks, and the GCSEs themselves coming up in quick succession after Christmas, so I won't be doing massive amounts of gaming. I might as well get it in June, when I have the longest summer holidays ever (12 weeks, no less :yay: ) and can really dedicate time to it. I just want to refresh my PC so that it can stumble along for the next six months before heading off to the great LAN party in the sky. :)
