edit: So, now I'm really anxious for an *unofficial patch* to bolt DX10 on XP. Or not. Wispier clouds and shinier rocks? I'll take more AA and higher res, on any game other than crysis. crytek can go fly a kite for signing up for being MS's lackeys and fragmenting gamers into dx__ and dx__ servers.

other specs: e6600, 2gb @ 1000mhz, asus p5b-e (can't push mem higher than 2.1v ), 650W antec trio, 2x160 samsung single-platters, and a boat load of AC fans in a p180.

on stock cooler easy to clock to 850/1350

but i get some artifacts in games so im waiting for some mature drivers, perhaps a different cooler.

nice! i've been hearing some great things about using two in crossfire, but that would involve $400 more in a new motherboard + gpu. guess i'll see how things go.

also just got wind that the 3870x2 will be coming out in jan or feb. again, probably too expensive for me, but it would be nice to see ATI(amd) claw their way back on top for a bit.

at the time, 8800gt would have been $270-300 out the door; this one was < $200 after it's all said and done. plus its a dual-slot cooler, which i like...enough to keep it on for a few days while i break it in.

overclocking it with an aftermarket HSF will boost performance enough to make me grin when i decide what route to take. i also really, really like where they've gone with the stock ramsinks/vrm heatsinks--big slabs of copper!

and aside from that, i've finally gotten to know my away around ati tray tools :)

ive not seen so many people buy one card on this forum ever, its good though because it brings some life back into ATI and and therfore its owner which is in trouble right now AMD

I do love those big slabs of copper on it to,shiny and cool very good!

Sorry to burst your bubble but I bought it because I love ati tray tools also and ati tray tools does not support the 38xx series cards yet. Hopefully it will soon though. The producer has been extremely busy with real life stuff.

Also the cooler that is stock works great. You just gotta set the fan settings right. Mine idles at around 40C and load at 60C. Not too shabby!!
