I don't know if the SLI is worth it or not but I do know that you should get a more powerful powersupply no matter what. For non sli get at least a 500. If your looking into going to SLI you should probably get a 650W or more.

You dont need a sli or cross fire motherboard.Sli 8800's are only good for games such as crysis and it would be cheaper just to buy one top of the line card,and when you no longer enjoy the games upgrade again to the newest top of the line.

All good motherboards will support 8gb of RAM (2gbx4), and yours should have one PCI-E 16x slot for your graphics card.

There is no point in getting 4gb of RAM as a 32bit OS will only see up to 3.2gb of it due to funky IRQ handling and memory management.

An E6750 is little different to a E6850. You will notice almost no difference in real world use. If you really want it faster, it's so easy to overclock it another few mhz to E6850 speeds. You don't even have to mess around with voltages doing that, just raise the Front Side Bus.

SLI or Crossfire is a waste of money unless you do it when you first build your PC. The reason is that when you have enough money for a duplicate card, there will be a better model card out on the market which will perform better than your older boards in SLI. For example, your single 8800gt will destroy that other guys 2 x 1800's.

ATI is rubbish at the moment, so please stick with an 8800gt. Also, don't listen to that crazy guy who is saying unless you get his specifications, you'll have to upgrade again in a few months. That's not true (just try and ignore him)

and call of duty 4... that comp you buying I don't think it will play it good... it might play it .. .but if you do what I said and buy what I said . it willl.....

Right, your quite clearly wrong.

His single 8800gt will own you rubbish X1800's. They wouldn't even compete. An 8800gt is good enough to play CoD4 on all max 1440x900 resolution with 2x AA. I play with those settings on my 8800gts 320mb, so a gt is capable of a lot more.

And, as for 1024mb graphics RAM. That's about as useless as a chocolate fireguard. Unless your playing at some stupid resolution like 2500x1500, your not going to need that much graphics memory.


Do not get 4gbs' of RAM if you are getting XP or Vista 32bit. Due to IRQ management, it means that Windows will only see up to 3.2gb of it. This means, you have 4gb in your computer, but Windows will only use 3.2gb of it. Thus, i would advise just buying a 2x1gb kit and a 2x512mb kit to make 3gb of RAM. Same performance, less money.

I second alex here.

I run E6750 and even at it's default 2,66GHz it delivers the goods. I've overclocked it to 3,2GHz which is even higher than E6850, not because I need the extra speed, but because I can do so very easily. The speed gain in games is some 2-4fps with 8800GTS at 1280x1024 which is peanuts and have no real effect on the gaming experience.

Just get P35 chipset motherboard and you are set.

Your Pc would run great with the E6750

Notice i have it, with the card your play BF2 COD4 ect maxed,
i see your not a "hardcore" gammer as someone said.

Save the money the E6750 is great, your PC will have great performance, and with the card graphics at a very good standard.

I would thing your system would last atleast 3 years, playing todays games.

But who knows how demanding the Next Gen games will be!

i have a 6750 and toms hardware went to 4 ghz with one but it a stupid question.

6750 is fine ,if u dont like money then 6850

no the 2 8600's will suck.. and another thing is 1 8800 will not play crysis, even on low settings you will have bad fps.. around 30 and it will drop lower then that.. as for the cpu, you can get a E6600.. or the 6600 quad core.. cuz you will want to OC it urself.. never buy the best cpu just make sure it has the same specs as the best and you can raise the clock speed on ur own..

it doesnt matter that it doesnt play crysis because i wont be playing it anyway and i probably wont be oc either as ive never done it before buut i might give it a try
