Help with VOIP

I downloaded VOIP... how do i tell a BF2 server supports VOIP before i actually connect to the server?
I don't want to go to a server just to find out it's not VOIP enabled.

Also, in the mic test under BF2 options... it appears to not pick up my voice.
It's all set up in windows & i can hear myself talk through the mic, but the bar in BF2 mic test doesnt move when i speak.

Any help please?

How did you download VOIP?? EXACTLY what was the name of the program you downloaded?

As for your mic in BF2, try turning your threshold down to zero. (in BF2) That made it work for me.

you dont download VOIP , it comes with the game. in the multiplayer screen where you see all the servers look to the left , if you see a icon of a "headset" that means it has voip.

try this, go to start/c:/program files/ea games/battlefiled 2
look for "bf2 voice setup" click on it & run it.

I didnt bother setting up the bF2 mic thing when i installed cos i didnt have a mic then.

I downloaded Teamspeak2, which i believe is actually VOIP (As in voice Over IP)

On Teamspeak though, i have to rely on the server loading page to display the Teamspeak server address & all such other information.

If i set up the bf2 voice setup, will that still apply to my Project reality mod?

Tried running BF2 voice set up, it doesnt even detect my voice. Windows sound recorder detects my voice though, so i know my mic is working.

well ifyou said team speak then would of known what you ment. & yes the bf2 voip will work with pr, i play pr myself.

it doesnt move the bar any? you can try to set your acceleration on low in your dxdiag sound tab. that usually fix's prob. the settings in optionis in your bf2 is it on software? put it there, uncheck "enable eax" and lower the acceleration , see if that works.

Click Start.
Click Run.
Type in DXDIAG into the available text field, and press OK.
Once the DirectX Diagnostic tool has loaded, click on the Sound tab.
This tab will show you your sound device and drivers.
Warning : Should this tab be blank, refer to your computer manufacturer for the proper sound drivers.
In the DirectX Features section, adjust the slide bar from where it is currently to Basic acceleration.
Warning : This may disable advanced audio features which worked previously in other games. Should you notice a negative change in any other game, simply change the acceleration level back to where it was or to Full Acceleration.
Click the Exit button.
Start your game, and verify that the game now works properly.

If the Send Threshold Volume does not seem to detect much or any sound, try the following:

While in the Audio options for the game, make sure the Mic Boost Gain box is checked.
If this does not help, you will need to adjust the Voice settings through Windows.
Open the Control Panel.
Double-click the Sounds and Audio Devices icon.
Make sure that your hardware sound card is listed as the Default Sound Device. You may need to adjust the individual options on the Sound and Audio tabs.

I changed the acceleration to standard.
I tried using the BF2 voice set up with the thresh hold down at ate bottom & it still didnt pick up my voice. I went into BF2 to the audio tab & did a mic test with the thresh hold down the bottom... it still didnt pick up my voice. I can hear myself through my headset, but the meter in the audio tab didnt move at all.

I dont have eax, so thats disabled.

My BF2 voice set up doesnt capture anything either, & crashes when i click save changes

if its crashing when you save the settings some thing is wrong, either your card is conflicting or you need to uninstall & reinstall.

try this first:
- SELECTING A SOUNDCARD
If you have multiple soundcards installed on your computer, you can
specify the one you would like Battlefield 2 to use, by using the
Windows Control Panel. Open 'Sounds and Audio Devices' and then
select the 'Audio' tab. From the drop down lists, select the sound
card you would like to use.

If that doesnt do it, try this :
CHANGES IN HARDWARE AFTER INSTALL

- Problems with PC hardware changes after you have installed
Battlefield 2.

If you change your video or sound hardware to a lower specification
after you have installed Battlefield 2, you may not be able to
start the game.

To remedy this use the Windows Explorer to find and delete the
directory:

\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\

This will reset your game to the default settings. You can
now start the game, retrieve or create a new profile, and re-adjust
the settings using the Menu as normal.

IF those dont work, then im outta ideas except to uninstal & reinstall go here to manually uninstall is the best

IF that dont work, then dude, i just donno, but you can allways write ea support, they will answer you, just be sure to log in to your ea account, & in the question part, put your "in game name" and you specs & what trouble is, they will reply, alot of times they will know.
