Re: New Computer Parts
Yeah, I got 1024*768 (temporary screen, will play with 1440*900 when I get my faulty one back) and all settings on highest except AA which is on 2x.
I haven't tweaked anything either. Want a screenshot of my 100FPS?
By saying constant I mean that the FPS is at 100 during 'normal circumstances', e.g. no artillery firing, no big explosions. Just me running around. When I'm in fire fights and stuff, I don't drop a lot though, I haven't checked so much.
I'm not a performence geek, I just wanna play my game smooth and have loads of fun, which I have. So I don't wanna argue about performence. All I wanna point out is that my 8600GTS 512MB is a great card, if you can get something for the same amount of money but that's better, fine. I got mine in a pre-built system for a very good price, so I'm happy.
It's all about being happy, right?
Those stats looks worrying. But statistics and reviews are nothing compared to personal experience, right? :)
Anyway, if there's a possibility to buy a better card for the same money, then I don't see why anyone should go for the "bad" card. As I stated above, I got my card because I bought a pre-built computer. And I'm very very happy with the performence of the card.
So don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to prove a point that "8600GT or 8600GTS is better than 7xxxx cards", it seems like that's not the case. What I'm trying to say is that I'm perfectly happy with my 8600GTS and I've never had a machine that runs this good before. To change anything in the machine for me would be useless, except the power supply, I could get a better power supply... but that's another story.
