    I have $5000 to spend, help? lol

    Yeah i got a promotion and along with it a five grand bonus check. So I already put money down on my new Ford F-250 Super Duty (in love) with money saved up.

    So help me pick out all necessary components. It's cheaper to make one I hear. If you can find me a decent Desky that'll run BF 2 and newer games on atleast medium with no probs.

    I'm mainly looking for a vid card, ram, OS, ect. A case is not really THAT hard to find I'm sure. Also a good power supply to run the dam thing would be nice lol :laugh:.

    So what are your suggestions? Find a pre-built or make my own [if so link me babeh!] :salute:

          $5000! nice. I suggest (and everyone here will) to get a 8800GTS 320MB Vid Card, or if you want you could even step it up to 768MB (or even 2 x 8800GTS 320MB and idk if you have a SLi MoBo or not, but you may want to look into that.) For the RAM, get 2 - 2 x 1gb sticks (OCZ is good, or even mushkin since u have the cash :laugh:). For the OS I suggest Vista, even though it may not run BF2 perfectly, you are really are gonna want that for the future, 32bit should do. And for the Power Supply you are gonna want at least 650Watt, more if you are gonna do SLi. And for the case, almost everyone is gonna recommend the Antec Nine Hundred, great case.           EDIT: Also, if you are interested in doing SLi (2 Video Cards) then you are probably gonna want a Full tower, not a Mid Tower, which the Antec Nine Hundred is. Like Storm said, if you need any help picking out specific parts just let us know, TBF2 Tech Center is the ownage :)!

                  Save it for my family? Stupid pansy, i worked my *** off for my 5 grand screw that lol! Plus tehy're doing fine.

                  And yes I'm looking into building a fully NEW system. One that'll make you jizz O.o :shock: Lol.

                      You can build an awesome rig for $2500. That's with some quad-core, 4GB RAM, 8800 GTX, X-Fi goodness and a big @ss monitor.

                                  5K?? I wouldn't spend it all on a computer. But if you want to drop some $$$....

                                  Case- Anything works here. I like the Antec Nine Hundred
                                  PSU- Corsair HX-620
                                  Mobo- Hmmm. Asus Striker Extrme?
                                  CPU- Q6600. You could get faster, but why pay for a QX6800? Just raise the FSB on this and yer set!
                                  CPU Cooling- CoolIt Eliminator [/envy]. You'll get a sick OC with TEC.
                                  Memory- 4GB of something DDR2-800 or faster. Preferably faster. (But not faster than DDR2-1000 because it's not worth the money)
                                  GPU- TWO 8800GTX/Ultras in SLI.
                                  Sound- X-Fi whatever
                                  HDD-Two WD Raptors in RAID 0 and two 500GB drives in RAID 1. (Or you could get two 1 TB drives in RAID 1)
                                  Optical- Two DVD burners
                                  Keyboard/Mouse- Doesn't matter. (I like G15/G5)
                                  Speakers- Logitech Z-5500
                                  Moniter- Some 30inch LCD or you could (it would be better to) get a huge 1080p TV!

                                  Wow. You might want a bigger case to fit all of that stuff in. How does that sound? Total is about 5.1K. Oh never mind. You can spend 5K on a computer! :laugh:

                                      Motherboard: Asus Striker Extreme
                                      CPU: Quad Core Q6600
                                      RAM: 4 GIGs of Dual Channel RAM, at least 800 MHz
                                      Videocard: Buy an 8800 GTS 320 MB for now, and buy a 9800 when they come out in October/November

                                      The rest is really personal preference.

                                      However the best bang-fo-yo-buck system is:

                                      512 MB 7950 GS
                                      E6600
                                      P5B
                                      2 gigs of 800 MHz dual channel

                                      Will run BF2 and other current games on medium/high, and will run Crysis, but with 5k you need not worry bout bang for your buck

                                          sounds like someone is bragging and doesn't really care about a good system while saving money... I like the one comment about saving it for family and future situations..whats to say you don't lose that job in a month? :shakehead:

                                              Anything over 2000 is a waste. (For me, anything over 1200 is a waste, but some will disagree) Instead of dumping 5000 on one computer, spend 1200, then save the rest for upgrades. If you spend 5000 now, you won't be on the leading edge by 09. But if you spread it out, you'll always be on top.

                                              Also, if you buy a video card, make sure it's from EVGA. If a new card is released within 90 days, you only have to pay the difference of cost between your current card and the new one. So when the 9800 comes out (not confirmed, it might come in November, but there's no evidence of it) you only have to pay a fraction of what it would cost.

                                                      wat rig do u currently have? if its decent, id save the $5000 and wait for a month or more for new stuff to come out. then u can come back to the forums bragging about ur new Geforce 9900 GTX ultra w/ 2 gigs Video memory

                                                          top of my head:
                                                          680i $150
                                                          8800gtx $500
                                                          q6600 $280
                                                          pc power and cooling ~700W $150
                                                          acer 22" monitor 5ms response $280 (best price/size going)
                                                          4 gb ram $200
                                                          freezer 7 pro $30
                                                          either an antec 900 (if you like "gaming" cases) or a lian-li
                                                          2 seagate 320 gb hd's, 1 for your os and media, 1 for games (5-year warranty ftw)
                                                          vista 32-bit ~$200

                                                          I would spend the rest on intel.

                                                          As in, "teh stockz", not "teh procz". lol.
