    COMPTIA A+ Cert

    Hi, I plan on testing for my COMPTIA A+ Certification exam in like a month, and was wondering if anyone could link me a good study guide type thing that is up to date. Also I plan on getting my IT Tech Cert if you have a link to that, it would be great. Also, has anyone here taken the A+ Exam? Is it really difficult or what?

    Thanks in advance:yay:

    ehh btw, not Cisco plz :)

    the testking Q&A are pretty good and quite accurate,

    did mine last year and was easier for me than others, past experiance helps a great deal :), just watch they dont mess up the exams and you end up getting the american version its.. well.. weird.

          How Much Does The A+ Certification Cost? Of course, the simple answer is the price of the exam voucher, which you’ll need to purchase your test. Let’s dive in.

                well, im taking a class at school called IT Essentials and we are using cisco there, so... its really cool though, like this thing called virtual desktop and laptop. It lets you build your own pc and make sure you know how to install/uninstall/replace everything, but hey... thats the ez part lol, troubleshooting is the hard part, especially since if you are working as an IT Tech your not allowed to ask how the problem happened, when, or what they were doing when it happened ohh well, ohh and btw, did u take one of the test after the A+ test? like.. IT Tech, Enterprise Tech, PC Tech, Desktop Support, Field Tech, or PC Support tech?

                  theres a million places to take the tests here in tampa. But I'll probably take the A+ cert wherever I end up taking my CCNA test. Theres a few guys in my cisco class that already took there A+ and they said it was easier than the cisco test.

                      I am blown away by how much harder the CCNA is now. Might as well study for your CCNP and then take the CCNA and smoke it. Anyone look at the CCSP stuff? Oh god! I think a CCIE would be easier then the CCSP! Seriously!

                        when i did mine you had 2 seperate exams to pass to get the qualification dont know if its changed,

                        Now the Software exam was well interesting to say the least, you would expect an exam to be about what you were studying so you would have a fair idea about the questions however when i did this Software exam i was in for a ride thru hell (in my mind), I went in last wednesday to take the exam, (there was some confusion about the vouchers earlier in the week and had to get them rushed thru for weds) sat in the nice little room and proceeded to start the exam, when it happend looking at the test screen it gives you info on the exam now this was weird the Hardware exam was 80 Questions & gave you 90 Minutes, the Software was 100 Questions & gave you 90 Minutes, I assumed it was the new exam and proceeded, however I assumed wrong and the Software exam i was taking was the American version . A few questions in and i was gived a question about hardware.. ok fair enough it was an IT qualification afterall,, then things started to get interesting I was given questions on the following topics;

                        * Customer Service
                        * Health & Safety
                        * Customer Service
                        * Idiots, I say idiots because some of the questions where just stupid,

                        One of the stupid questions I came across, cant remember it all but you'll get the gist of it.

                        A disgruntled customer comes into the store and starts shouting at you (the Tech Supp guy), they seem to be complaining about the lack of support they were offered and demands some answers, you reply carmly saying "I'm sorry but I'm new here, I've just been told to look after the front desk today, perhaps if you come back tomorrow when someone more senior is around". the customer grunts and leaves the store, you notice on the counter there is a $10 bill (my hint it was the American exam when this Q poped up) what do you do?

                        * Put the $10 into the collection box for Computers for Schools (British Concept, was something similar)
                        * Put the $10 in your pocket
                        * Put the $10 in the cash register
                        * Pick up the $10 and try to give it back to the Disgruntled Customer

                        I put the 1st answer on the exam and really have no idea otherwise.

                        Talk about being thrown a curveball, I sat and crammed Software questions into my brain from the Testking guides only to sit the exam and get given questions I did'nt know would be asked.. God I feel sorry for the American guys who take that exam,

                          I picked up a few books a while back like "A+ for dummies" took the practice tests..but over all experience helps... reading up for it just handles the IRQ and junk questions that you hardly run in to. But to keep it simple a Blind monkey with no hands can get A+ cert no a days..

                            I'm taking courses towards my associates in networking engineering, then eventually a banchelors in something similar. I already have way more than associates credits (60) but its all in random stuff cuz i never knew what i wanted. The CCNA stuff is just some courses along the way. But you need a CCNA and an A+. Those 2 alone WILL get you a lob of atleast tech level 1. Which in Florida will get you like $16/hr + benies. I'm sure in other parts of the country you will get a lot more than that. If you get your CCNA and CCNP without experience you won't get hired.
