From talking to experience people, this is not worth it anymore. I seen a lot of tech jobs online and most require experience with high school education. The best thing right now for the future is a CCNA or any other Cisco cert.

umm... pointless to get? lol almost every tech job requiers atleast A+ cert and more depending on the level of difficulty. I have seen jobs that said "A+ certification would be a plus, but not required." And ive only seen 2-3 jobs like that.

A lot of headhunters have two stacks. Ones with credentials and the other is a trashcan. They might be able to see that you have a lot of experience, but they will not even give you a call back without any of the four magic letters...MCSE, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, RHCT, RHCE. It is really sad too, but how many people I know that have certs and people without certs? A lot, and the stories they tell are amazing when it comes to how quickly either group get callbacks.

Certs without experience...well, at least you get a closer look at times. Hell, you might get an entry level job quicker.

get Comptia A+, then go for Network+ with those 2 you will be prepared for the MCP,
