Sup guys, i am wondering if my computer is overheating. im prety sure this isn't normal...when i touch my computer tower, it is warm to the touch. i mean, its not like you can't put your finger on it for 5 seconds but it is warm. when it runs for a while, the space around the computer gets really really hot then my room starts to feel like a oven :hmm: i have 3 fans in the computer, one on the removable glass, one in the back and one in the front. any ideas?

do you have a program that monitors the temps?
if you dont try speed fan, that gives a good temp reading of the cpu -

Forget speed fan.
For the CPU get yourself TAT. It's Intels own C2D thermal analysis tool and is to date the most accurate one I have found. It also allows you to do 100% CPU load tests on both cores, again to date I haven't found any program that can stress test a CPU the way TAT can.
For your GPU get yourself a copy of Rivatuner. If you want to combine GPU temp and CPU temp you can also get the C2D plugin for Rivatuner, it's a degree or two off TATs readings at idle however under load it's about as accurate.
Finally if you're CPU and GPu aren't self throtting and you're not getting any unexpected shutdowns, crashes, freezes or other errors then chances are you don't have an overheating issue. Just for refrence the C2D CPU should be running at about 42C idle, 60 Loaded and has a throtting temp of 80C. Your 8800GTS should about 50C idle and 75C Load and has a throtting temp of some 100CComment

aight cool, my GPU is at 72C and CPU is at 14C...wierdly
also for the speed fan program, it lists core0 and core1...im guessing thats my CPU? and theyre both around 51-52 so i guess thats ok but to the left of the numbers, it has like a flame symbol...also i cant run TAT because of this error "Error enumerating On Demand Clock modulation support"Comment

for mine, the cpu temp is listed as temp1, 14c seems really low...
is your vid card idleing at that temp?? if it is thats pretty highComment

how do you know if temp1 is your cpu? yeah my gpu is about 70 but i googled the ave temp for 8800gts and 70 is pretty ave. if it goes above 85 then it'll most likely blow up my house. :yay:Comment

no im using windoes xp. and uhhh, i had like a weird restart a couple of minutes ago, it flashed a blue screen and had stuff writtem on it, but it just shut down and restarted by itself before i could read it.Comment
