Re: Oh say can u c a bunch of newbies
You must be surrounded by some seriously stupid people. If you make a claim of intellectual superiority to a whole group around you while being a religious person (please correct me by saying youre agnostic, please... please) which requires you to ignore evidence and base all of your faith on manmade claims, or believe that because we dont have an answer to a particular question means there is definitely a supernatural being, then may the Flying Spaghetty Monster have mercy on our future generations. But considering youve been attempting to get a reaction by portraying your political preference a number of times, I just hope youre performing one of the greatest troll-acts in TGN-s history.Originally posted by jake_The strange thing is that I'm more intelligent than all my atheist friends and the only people I know who are more intelligent than myself aren't atheists either. Having religious beliefs (of any sort) doesn't mean you don't use "conventional" logic. Plus, using logic in such a sense is a complete misuse of the word. :awes2
Then again, going back to calling your friends stupid, considering only about 15% of American population are atheists, that one atheist friend you have may very well be less educated than you are. Congrats, you just proved that 93% of the members of National Academy of Sciences are idiots.
But like I said, youre trolling, so its cool. Because you know what Doc House said about reason

Re: Oh say can u c a bunch of newbies

The problem with choosing a religion is that most of them are mutually exclusive. You have to believe in exactly the right one, or you are Doomed (TM). Usually factions within a sect hate each other more than the competing religions.
Once I saw this guy on a bridge about to jump. I said, "Don't do it!" He said, "Nobody loves me." I said, "God loves you. Do you believe in God?"
He said, "Yes." I said, "Are you a Christian or a Jew?" He said, "A Christian." I said, "Me, too! Protestant or Catholic?" He said, "Protestant." I said, "Me, too! What franchise?" He said, "Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Baptist or Southern Baptist?" He said, "Northern Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist or Northern Liberal Baptist?"
He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist." I said, "Me, too! Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region, or Northern Conservative Baptist Eastern Region?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region." I said, "Me, too!"
Northern Conservative†Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879, or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912?" He said, "Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912." I said, "Die, heretic!" And I pushed him over.Comment

Re: Oh say can u c a bunch of newbies
I think what the picture was getting at was the fact, most religions are based on books and have no physical/scientific proof, for all we know, the religious books could of been a rather well thought of practical joke that a group of people dedicated their lives to, Its possible if you think about it, just imagine if the bible was only 200 years old, would a religion be based around it? Maybe, but would it be considered a book of fiction? Most probably.
This is what I don't like about religion, Books, Which contain fantastical things, like parting seas and rising from the dead, and various other things dictate how millions of people live, yet, are no more real than say, Lord of the rings (IMO).
Do you think, That if lord of the rings, Or some other popular fiction book, had been written thousands of years ago in the style of the bible, Would it make up the majority of peoples beliefs.
Dont get me wrong, im not against people having beliefs/belonging to a religion, But the fact they use it as an excuse to cause death/control the masses/Cover up horrible crimes, Its wrong.Comment

Meh, the cool thing to do these days is to hate on "religion." People do realize there IS plenty of proof behind Christianity right? Actually it probably takes much more faith to be an atheist then it does to be "religious."Comment

Re: Oh say can u c a bunch of newbies
Theres nothing "cool" about being an atheist/agnostic. Theres nothing fashionable about it, especially if youre living in a deeply religious country which views atheism in an overall negative way.
Anyway, Im GTFO before TGN admins put a stop to this.
