Any good budget Graphics card?

Hey guys,

I am currently looking to buy a new graphics card for my computer. I dont have so much money but i am looking for a card about £60 to £70. I been reading some reviews and i think that ATI Radeon X1650 Pro should be good enought to play BF2 on medium settings. My whole computer meets the requiments but my graphics card dosent.

Is anyone using ATI Radeon X1650 Pro and will it run BF2?

And if anyone else knows some good budget graphics card.

I found an interesting test about afew budget card and X1650 is on top.

The Radeon X1900's models if you dont want DX10. You can find some extremely powerful cards for £100.

Otherwise, go for the 8800gts 320mb, but that maybe a little too expensive.

Also consider the Nvidia Geforce 7600gt

Thx for the info, i will read some reviews about them graphics card. But does anyone know if X1650 will be able to play BF2 on solid FPS?

Should get High settings on 1024X768 resolution

If you want to crank the resolutions up higher go for a x1900 or a 7900 card which are just over £100

that review is going on a year old. x1650xt/pro are decent cards if you can find them for dirt cheap.

x1950pro will beat anything around it's price range if you can stretch 10 more of whatever the he11 you people spend in blighty. :) (sorry, i don't have that oober funky L on my keyboard)

if you can get a great deal on a 7600gt, they're sweet cards too, and don't require quite as much power (=heat) as the x1950pro.

it's not DX10 compatible, but there aren't any dx10 "only" games announced yet except Halo 4 or 5 or something.

I go to agree with Alex and Mega. A 7600GT is a very good choice. Price arnage is 80-100, or $90 on Newegg. If you have an SLI motherboard, try for SLI. I am planning on doing that in near future. If no SLI, get one and get 8800 later.

P.S. - Go Nvidia, pretty much owns ATI. Pretty much...

If you have an SLI motherboard, try for SLI.

Ummm, not a good idea. Two 7600GT's cost about $200. For the same price you could get a X1950XT, which would kill a 7600GT SLI. Even if you already have a 7600GT, I wouldn't get another one. For about $40 more you could have a X1950PRO, which is what I recommend to the OP. With it, you are gaurenteed to play with high settings at 1280x1024. You will completely max out 1024x768 (6xAA and all), and if you have the right system, you can max out 1280x1024 with an average FPS of 45. (like me) Killer card, highly recommended.

you could have a X1950PRO, which is what I recommend to the OP.

best budget card available. op's on a budget, so it depends on whether op already has a half-way decent power supply.

Thx for all the replys guys and it looks like i might go for the X1950. Its pretty much the same price as X1650 but better. One more thing i would like to ask you is when you are upgrade more powerfull graphics card will this slow down the computer in anyway, like take more RAM and CPU power to run?

Make sure you get the right plug type. You will feel like a bit of a twix if you spend £100 on a PCI-E card to find out you have AGP...

Yea i checked my motherboard and it seems that i have got 2 PCI-E slots. 1 PCI-E slot has 56k modem connected but i didnt find a graphics card which freaked me out abit...

I think i got 1 PCI-E 16x slot and then i just got 2 PCI-E slots.

My motherboard looks similar to this picture

I got the same black slot and it says its PCI 16X so that must be it and i got 2 white ones the same as on the picture.

Btw the current graphics card that i got is ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 what ever that is :|:

You have a PCI-E 16x slot and a PCI-E 1x slot (Which is about as useful chocolate fireguard). At the moment, the Radeon Xpress 200 is not a "card" as such. Instead the graphics processing chip is built into the motherboard. However, these chips are usually god awful. When you put a new graphics card into your computer, you will have to disable onboard graphics.

Im running the X1650 Pro 512 with a screen res of 1280 x 1024. My viewing distance is 100%, graphics are all set to high. The only thing i havent got on is anti aliasing, however i did test ,my PC at 6x anti aliasing and it worked fine.

As long as the rest of your PC is up to it, your graphics can be set to high no problem.

When you put a new graphics card into your computer, you will have to disable onboard graphics.

Or at least set it to PCI-E as the first video adapter in the bios. Most new(er) motherboards disable the onboard (when present) when a card is detected.

i had an X1600 pro 512 mb and it sucked got like 30-50 FPS you should get the 7900 GS, gets me 50-100+ fps
