hey all, well im going pci-e pretty soon getting rid of my old X800 GTO agp, and going to get a new mobo and 2gigs DDR2(finally)but i cant decide on these 2 graphics cards,does anyone have a chart to show what they get fps in games?

I'd go with the 8800. Power consumption on the 2900 is just too high.

8800GTS.

Buy yourself a copy of CustomPC UK magazine. It explains numerous advantages of the 8800 architecture over the 2900, heat being one of them, but compatibility being another.

Still about 20% more than a GTS without much more(if any) performance gain. It could be argued that performance will improve with mature drivers, but will that account for enough to put it over the 8800?

Definitely the 8800gts, the 2900xt has only about as much power as a good quality 8600gts.

well first of all how am i supposed to get a UK magazine if i live in US? and 2nd of all i have a 650watt psu.....im specifically talking about in game quality. which one will run games better? thanks for all the quick replys guys.

Definitely the 8800gts, the 2900xt has only about as much power as a good quality 8600gts.

the core and memory of the 2900XT is more though....so how do you know this as a fact?
