strikes me as a much nicer case than the xion jobby, but there's no accounting for taste. side window fan is def the way to go for a max cool system, but they are too loud for my...err...taste.

if you want to cut down on noise, check out some of the fans by arctic cooling (very good and pretty cheap) or panaflo (best of the best of the best, sir).

        driverheaven was impressed by it:

Yeah i think ill ditch the Xion and go for this one, looking back on the Xion it looks really tacky. After doing a final revise on my monitor i had a look through ebuyer and i was thinking that i could get one of these three -> http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/128036/
Ebuyer stock more than 20,000 products for the home, office, or school from leading brands. Next day delivery and 0% finance options available.

Looking for a small monitor for when you need to work at home? Pick up a small and compact 21" monitor from the Ebuyer store today that can be easily stored.

I think the middle one is proberbly my best bet don't you think.

I'd get a better monitor, like a Xerox 22", can be had from eBuyer from £187

i think i might go for the top one i just have a couple of q's...
              1) The samsung http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/125098/ says it's 3000:1
but the cibox says its 1000:1 now im guessing the higer numberr wins?
              2) I am wondering about this 5ms stuff what does it all mean
              3) is it worth me going with the 800mhz ram or shall i go with slower ram?
4)Is it worth me upgrading to this Mb - http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/127813/ ?
              5) is it worth me upgrading to this Psu -> http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...ct_uid=116339/ ?

                2) from chez wiki:
Response time is the amount of time a pixel in an LCD monitor takes to go from active (black) to inactive (white) and back to active (black) again. It is measured in milliseconds (ms). Lower numbers mean faster transitions and therefore fewer visible image artifacts. edit from practical experience, I'm just fine with anything under 8ms. 5ms is even better, depending on how they did their testing--some of the lcd mfg's are known for cheating on their response times.
                3) modern CPU's will "talk" to your ram at 800mhz, 1066mhz, or 1333mhz through it's FSB. If you have slower ram than your fsb, the ram will run with a divider. General rule of thumb is to match your FSB with your memory specs, but recent gaming benchmarks indicate that this isn't as important as it used to be.
                4) have to look back thru posts to see what you're upgrading from
                5) linky brings up another search.

http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/116339 damn ebuyer seems to be changing all the links.
since my quad is running at fsb-1066mhz i will stick to the 800mhz
the answer you gave me about my mobo wasnt that helpfull since i dont know anything about them could you say it is worth the extra £15 or so to upgrade to this mobo

wasn't meant to be helpful. was a placeholder until i could go back through and figure out what you were upgrading from.

personally, i'd pick the asus and a used x-fi sound chip. the advantage of the evga looks like it's got better onboard sound (7.1 HD (evga) v. 5.1 realtek chip in the asus) if you've GOT a 7.1 setup and don't want to spend money on a sound card, then the evga board makes sense. if you've only got 5.1 speakers and are fine with onboard sound, then i'd go with the asus.

ah ok so the only difference is they sound cards, ill go with the asus one instead because ill prefer to upgrade to a better sound card than to have one built in. ok thanks. did the link work?

hiper is a good company and 730W is a lot of power. overkill, imho. if it was me, i'd get a good brand psu ~600W and go for decent pc 8500 value ram (ddr2 1066mhz since that is what your processor is running at).

i spent $150 on some good ddr2 800 that will o'c to 1066 no problem; kicking myself now for not waiting and saving about $60.

edit: OCZ psu w/active PFC and three 18A +12v rails:
Enjoy low prices on the best 501W - 600W PSUs. With top brands such as Corsair, Thermaltake and more, Ebuyer has the power supply you need. With free, super-fast delivery, get your PSU today!

don't they sell value ram in blighty? closest decent thing:
DDR4 RAM up to 128GB and 4400MHz at the lowest prices online from Kingston, Crucial, Patriot and more. Buy from the experts. Next day delivery and finance available.

edit 2: on second thought, i'd stick with a good set of ddr2 800mhz.

edit 3: these would probably do 1066 if you loosened the timings.
DDR4 RAM up to 128GB and 4400MHz at the lowest prices online from Kingston, Crucial, Patriot and more. Buy from the experts. Next day delivery and finance available.

                        there's a roundup of popular ddr2 800 if you're interested:
