i got a new 26" sharp aquos television. The box and manual says its pc input, so im guessing that means i can play bf2 on it. Not like i need such a big screen for bf2, my 19" is fine, but id like to hook it up for the hell of it.

Before i learn how, i have this problem with the screen quality. All the reviews say that this tv has amazing crispness and quality.

i watch cable tv on it, and it looks unclear and blurry. There are these pulsing ripples flowing down the screen, and the overall image isn't as sharp as described. I tried messing with picture settings, looking on the internet for fixes, but found nothing.

Its not a big deal and doesn't bother me much, but im just curious to see if im getting jipped of quality.

anyone have any clues on solutions?

The quality of the image could be your cable line. Try to play a dvd or something on it and see if its any better.

I'll second what he is saying - I hear satelite TV with bell > rogers cable. I believe it too, seen/heard the crap on cable. Always have an annoying ring in the backround (multiple people concluded this) at least in this area...

As for playing bf2 on it, try a 50" screeen and go back to your 19" after and try to tell me its not a hell of a lot more fun. Don't forget to use a good surround sound system, the set up will just blow you away!

So I hope you can enjoy half of the excitement that I had with my moms 50" LCD =P

ps.. It is a LCD screen you bought right??? Plasma isn't good for gaming I heard.

yea im pretty sure its lcd.

i tried a dvd and yea the quality was much better, thanks for the help. its still kinda blurry but i think tahts just because i was sitting too close. When i stand back it looks beautiful.

btw any good guides for hooking it up to pc??

Tell me what connections you have first of all. On my moms LCD I had three choices. The one that worked the best by far was RGB port which is a VGA port really.

err i dunno, im guessing rgb is that red green blue triple wire set thing. I have that sticking out of the back of my tv, plus an s-video cable port. Does that help?

S-video could work, since I know some graphics cards (specifically the 7600gt, because I have one) have s-video out on them. You could try that and see how it looks.

RGB is a VGA port on your TV. You have this on the back of your video card most likely (or DVI which is white) in which case it is a blue plug.

What you described though is not a VGA port. The normal white/red/yellow ports are meant for dvd players and gaming consols. I don't know of a computer being connected through those inputs though...

S-video sounds like your best bet... Does it somewhat resemble what your keyboard/mouse input ports look like? Better yet, does your video card have a similiar port on it?

I'm thinking the same, S-video would be the best. I'm pretty sure his card probably has a s-video out because I also have a 7600gt, and it has an s-video out. It also has a converter that changes it into component inputs, so that could be another option also.

ok ill tell you everything i see & have, sorry for not being technical:

7600 gt:
-1 black circle port (guessing thats the s-video)
-2 white wide ports (DVI?)

TV:
-1 black circle port (s-video)
-one small blue wide port (similar to DVI)
-3 circle ports, red green and blue.

Wires (these came with 7600 gt):
-1 black wire, 2 s-video plugs on both sides.
-1 white plug that converts the white dvi into the smaller blue port.
-1 more wire. One side contains a red,blue, and green plug, plus an s-video plug. The other end contains something that resembles the s-video plug, has many teeth instead of 4 little holes.

I'm really not 100% sure what your intending your last post but I'll let you know that the blue port on your tv is the port you want for best viewing. If you want to use that port you will need a cable that has two identical ends and an adaptor from VGA to DVI so you can connect it in your computer.

I'm really not 100% sure what your intending your last post but I'll let you know that the blue port on your tv is the port you want for best viewing. If you want to use that port you will need a cable that has two identical ends and an adaptor from VGA to DVI so you can connect it in your computer.

I found that RGB was the best. HDTV (S-video I'm guessing) was very small pixels and everything looked like it was chinese. HDMI was the other port I could use which required some special adaptor that pluged into what almost looks like a usb plug (slightly bigger) and converts it into DVI. From that point on it was easy but using that mode cuts off your screen and you can't play BF2 in it for some reason..

I found RGB was the best. Your max res depends on your TV's max native res but everything looks great and readable. No chinese characters.

The reason I started going by colours is because the VGA ports are typically blue and thats easier to find than saying a name? I didn't want to leave any blanks either so I went on being maybe a bit too descriptive.

Anyways, thats good you can use your monitor's cable for your TV. I have to use a vga to dvi adaptor for mine. It wasn't a big deal though, my card came with 2 of them anyways... =D

first i hooked up the VGA. It looked pretty good, but i couldn't get bf2 to work. When i clicked on bf2, the screen would go black, and go back to desktop. In the display box in the top right, it said the resolution 1028x768 or whatever.

so i tried the s-video. It was crappier quality, and again bf2 didn't work.
