windows not starting

on my main computer i start it up nad i get this

Logon process initialization failure

Interactive logon process initialization has failed.

Please consult the event log for more details.

i even did it in safe mode and got this error,going back to last known good setting didnt help either.

vista,now it says it fails to load because this file is missing,

/windows/system32/winload.exe

status:0xc000000f


it says to insert my disk which i did but it doesnt do anything,is there something i need to select in bios to read the disk?

i really need help guys.

other people have had problems,but i insert my disk restart and it doesnt do anyhting when i restart just comes up with the error telling me to insert it and reboot.


is there any way i can wipe my hard driveusing bios and just do a clean install?

if you have an install disk, then starting from scratch shouldn't be a problem, providing you don't have any data you *have* to keep.

edit: make sure you're set in BIOS for primary boot device = optical (cd/dvd/wtfe)

edit 2, and when it does boot, there may be an option for "repair" that you could try, but i don't know for sure since i haven't paid my dues to beta test vista.

ok i set ym primary boot device dvd since the vista disk is dvd and disabled hard drive boot.

ok so i set boot device to dvd,didnt work wetn straight back to the error.

how can i do a clean install from bios?

disabled hd boot, enabled DVD, and it still won't give you vista boot options?

best guess = you've just discovered a new security feature of ME II. sorry, but if you're telling vista to boot from dvd and not from hd, and it's still booting from hd, then :sigh: someone else will have to be more helpful.

just to cover everything (yes, dumb question, but we all do dumb things once in a while) ARE YOU SURE you saved your bios settings after changing?

beyond that, my vista knowledge = zero

Installed and I am running Vista on two different machines here.....never ran into this. You should be able to go into bios, and set boot sequence to begin with the drive you have the disc in (save and reboot). Then you should be able to tell it to repair, make boot disc, or install ...that should cover it. Why you would be missing this file is weird at least. Did this start happening from the first, something that happened after first install? What also may be helpful, is to post all specs and Vista version.

a note to Vista bashers:

After having been through all the bad stuff that I have experienced with Vista, I have come to the conclusion, that Vista is great, what the real problem most people are experiencing with it, is lack of resources. Once I realized how much is required, and met those needs, Vista has been operating fine. What was great for XP, may not be enough for Vista, and may be no where near to run Vista, AND BF2. Along with games utilizing DX10, the hardware available thats cheap enough to build better rigs, Vista will become what XP was and set a new standard. May as well except it, because here it comes.

how would u do a check disk in bios?will i have to buy a new hard drive now?ive been meaning to get a new external firewire one so it wouldnt be to big of a deal and i still have my windows vista install disk,even though its an upgrade theres a way around that to do a clean install of it.

help me please!
