Lan Problem

Ok, I justed recently upgraded my rig from AMD 3500+ to (look at sig). Before I was able to share the internet/files. But now after upgrading my Motherboard to Asus P5N-E SLI 650i Socket 775 Onboard Audio ATX, I was unable to share. It says connected on my NEW computer but Failed Connection on my other computer or sometimes connects but doesnt receive any data at all. Ive checked Firewall and different cable...I use a HUB to connect them all together before and now, but its not working anymore.

Any Ideas?

I'd be have to be there to get all the issues, but don't use a Hub just for future reference. They suck. Use a switch or a home router/switch.

The other computer am i trying to share with isnt my old computer. And with my old comp it used to work fine. Hub is fine and ive never had such prob before only now. :cry:

do me a favor, run through the network setup thing on the other computer and make sure file sharing is enabled. (make sure you name the network the same)

Done a zillion times...swicth off all Fire Walls too.

ok, now make sure you've put the proper default gateway and subnet mask on both computers. probably 255.255.255.0 and 192.168.1.1

Any other settings? Cos it say connect now but, no internet...

Also now IP conflict, i set the IPs on both computers?

well if you have a router dhcp should ahve assigned the two computers ips

including subnet and default and dns servers, so if dhcp is on, let these be chosen automatically. If its off, you'll want one computer to be 192.168.1.2 and the other one 192.168.1.3 then the default and subnet is the same as long as dhcp is off.

nothing, just connected but no net. its like thier firewall, but am 100 sure ive swicthed off on both computer.

And how do i know what my preferred DNS sever is? And alternative?

so there not connected to the net? How do you connect to the internet with just a hub? make sure they are both set on 10BastT half duplex.

DCHP is on, so i let it choose automactially, but i get limited or no connectivity?

rofl really oh well I've reinstalled operating systems for other pesky issues myself.
