Noob (upgrading to Vista)

I was curious as too whether or not I need to back up anything as I'm going to be upgrading to Vista(heaven help me).
As I uinderstand it,when I log in after re-installing the game my stats should still be there,correct?.

after you upgrade i guess you'll probly need to reinstall the game. you dont NEED to back anything up but it might be a good idea to save your profile controls .con file so you dont have to remap your controls again.
i have a couple questions about vista too. Ive heard some bad things about people getting guid bans after upgrading because of punkbuster not recognizing the new os.... does this happen much? and ive also heard that games dont run as well with vista... how much of a drop in fps is that?

Thanks for the reply,I've read a few things and it seems to be at least right now,the luck of the draw as to whether or not thiongs are going to behave.
(act like they should).
I have a pretty basic system so I'm hoping for the best.

I ran the beta 1 and 2 of vista and the only real problem
I had was with the sound but going to upgrade to X-fi and that seems to be
where Creative is spending most of there time.
I was really suprised at this video card
I was running a ati 9500 pro and vista liked that one as well so im pretty confident.

vista runs about the same on games as xp, ive noticed a tiny bit of an increase but not much, but it really depends on your drivers. the latest ati drivers work good for me, but my bro has an nvidia, and he finally found some drivers that work for him. the biggest problem is the IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6), its sorta new in vista and bf2 isnt made for it, its made for IPv4. but you can disable ipv6 so that bf2 works good and stuff, just make a simple registry entry, follow the instructions on this site

The stats reside with account server not your pc so you don't have anything to worry about there.

U may see some slowdowns running Vista with that GfX Card, since it is not DX10 & Vista is you may get some probs with is. But patches should be out to fix it.

PS why are u upgrading to Vista? XP is still the best os for gaming.

Take IPv4 (crrently used all over the world, and making it like 4 times longer. 128-bits as apposed to 32. right. but vista tries to use IPv6, over IPv4, so whether or not my router can handle it, it still tries to take use it, and bf2 doesnt run well

vista might try to take an IPv6 off a dhcp enabled router 1st. But if it doesn't then it just takes an IPv4 address. They're completely different things, once it knows it has an IPv4 address thats it, its done, its using IPv4 for the rest of the time its on. Now if you enter your IP manually you'd enter a V4 address. Its just an addressing scheme, the packets are just the same, and function the same way. It wouldnt effect BF2 at all unless it was actually assigned a v6 address, which I can assure you it hasn't.
