i would probably re-think all of those choices.

RAM: 1.5gb or 2gb

video card: at least nvidia 6800gt, 7900gs(best bang for your buck) or 7600gt

optical drive: any dvd reader writer

mouse: logitech g5/g7 or the razer diamondback

but those parts are what i recommend if you want to play bf2 on high.

For that money you will not be able to get a good computer what so ever. For your first upgrade idea, the X550 is not only a crap video card, but it is PCI-E which you do not have.

Depending on the prices down under, you can put $600 to good use. Go long on the gpu (x1950 pro) and short on the cpu (pentium d 915). Get good memory and a good motherboard (personally recommend p5b-e) and you can get an excellent system IF you migrate your current parts over.

'course, that requires that your psu, current drives (optical/hd) are satisfactory.

Think you can substantially upgrade on $600. I did. You must scrap your current MOBO, RAM, GPU, and CPU and keep everything else in order to keep things in you budget though. My problem was my PSU. Little old 380W kept me from reaching very far. On the other hand, if you aren't looking toward high, high, high end parts, then a >400W psu that has been stable for you up 'til now should suffice to power a good (not GREAT) upgrade.

To be honest i'd wait and save your money until you can buy something decent. A 128 won't cut it, especially a Radeon *Shudders*. You definetly want 2gb of RAM as well. IMO it's pointless going for any good parts if you don't have a decent procesor. Save your money, get a 7-8 series GPU and also a dual core CPU, Intel or AMD, whatever suits your preference. (I chose AMD <333)

And buy a decent PSU, i bought a 200 quid piece. The better quality/brand and power kinda reassures your components won't explode if you surge etc.

That's what i would do anyway.
