because when i get 2x 8800gts xt i wont need to get a new psu
below is the NewEgg link with specs to the ToughPower PSU you linked above(just for reference)...shows each 12v rail @18amps each for a combined total of 48amps. This will work for two 8800gts's with no problem.
It will NOT work with two 8800gtX's though, as that would require 4 pci-e connectors and this PSU has only 2.

    .
    .
    .
Let me ask you a very important question pertaining to the use of 2 8800gts's...exactly what kind of monitor do you have? Size and brand please?

If your monitor for example only goes to 1280x1024(average 17-19" LCD monitor), then having 2 video cards will be a waste of your money as 1 of those cards will provide more than enough framerate to satisfy that resolution.

By the time the framerate of the 2 cards in SLI would actually be needed by you and your future games, there will be a single card that far far exceeds the performance of the 2 8800gts's combined...for LESS money.

SLI is for people with enormous monitors, and lots of money. You said it yourself, that you do not have alot of money, so I cannot understand why someone in that position would be going to an SLI setup. It is not economical by any means.

Lastly, and don't take this personally. But you seem to be of limited knowledge in the computer hardware area, and using SLI isn't going to be as simple as just sticking the other card in.

There are going to be certain games that require some tinkering to get the SLI utilized correctly. There are going to be constant driver changes to maximize the performance of the 2 cards. There are even going to be some games that actually play SLOWER than having just 1 card!
    .
    .
    .
But most importantly again, it is the size of your monitor that dictates whether or not you can even benefit from having SLI. If you currently play in 1280x1024 or lower....don't even waste your time thinking about SLI anymore.

Stick with the updated plan of the 600watt Xion and a single 8800gts(get the 640mb model). If you really insist upon more performance, then get the 8800gtx 768mb and be done with it. Don't waste your money on SLI if you'll never actually use it.

OK, great. But we need to know what kind(brand), and what size your MONITOR is...not your motherboard.

^ why I never respond seriously to OP anymore. See thread history for details.

BTW, very nice summation abtomat. Wasted on OP, but the rest of us benefited.

                    Nice monitor.

OK, follow along here...the specs show a MAX resolution of 1680x1050. That resolution is actually less intensive than 1600x1200. Simply multiply the two numbers together to see. (1680x1050=1764000) and (1600x1200=1920000).

This means the resolution of 1600x1200 is approximately 9% more intensive than 1680x1050. Therefore we can conclude that you need a card capable of handling resolutions up to 1600x1200 and no more...since your monitor can only go just under that number.

Now if you move up to a 24" monitor, then the max res becomes 1920x1200(which equals 2304000). This is 16.5% higher than 1600x1200! This size(24" and larger), is the size monitor for SLI and Crossfire users...as they NEED it.
                    .
                    .
                    .
I can assure you that a single 8800gts(640mb) will do wonderfully at the resolution of 1680x1050. And the gtx will do even better obviously...but only one card is needed.

Now fast forward a year from now...no need for a new type of card hopefully(still on DX10). At this time the newer games might be so nasty that you need a second gts or gtx...this would be the time to get SLI going, when the cards are half the price they are today.

But as I mentioned earlier in this post, when that day comes to pass there will be an nVidia 9800gts selling for the current 8800 prices now, and will most likely equal or exceed your 8800 SLI configuration.

It's your money...but if you gotta spend it all, get the GTX then, not two GTS's.

Actually, thats not really true. My xtx is more than capable at 1920x1200, and the 8800gtx is still more than powerful enough to handle it.
