how much power 4 2 8800gts 320mb

i have a Black Diamond Power Supply 12cm Fan, 20/24 Pin, SLI 2x6pin, 500Watt

i was wondering if it would power two 8800gts 320mb 1600mhz
cpu amd 5200+

??

Depends on the 12V rail/s.

Give it a go. IIRC you need at least 750 watts to power an SLI system.

If you're gonna spend that much, why not just get a single 8800gtx? It'll be cheaper,use less power, and be just as fast. That psu is probably crap though, you'll have to get a quality one.

I can't find the psu specs online anywhere, but based on the name I'd doubt it.

I bought an OCZ 600w PSU for $150 CDN (that includes shipping and insurance) and it has no trouble powering my 8800 GTS, 38A I believe, and 8800 reccomends 24A....check them out.

I agree. Either get one 8800 GTS 640 or a full blown 8800 GTX.

That PSU would be bare minimum for a single 8800 GTS.

I'm guessing a combined total output of around 30a max. Unfortunately without knowing the actual amount of watts the 12v rails have, we can only guess the combined amps.

Watts = volts x amps. If we had the watts, we'd know the amps. I guessed and figured around 360w for the 12v rails(360w/12v=30a)...based on similar 500w psu's outputs.

I'm sure this is enough power for the 8800gts, probably the 8800gtx as well. For two gts's though, it might be pushing it.

No, thats total for the 12v output. There are no multi rail PSU's that I know of that have 26a on each line.

OP,

What type of monitor do you have?, I would not go sli with X2 8800s(any type) if your monitors max res is 1280 X1024, just make sure you can play 1600 X 1200 or higher to get the most from them.

I play @1600 X1200 everything high 8Xaf @ 90 ~ 60 FPS on 1 8800gts 320Meg
