Is there a big difference between intel c2d e6400 and intel c2d e6700? why is e6700 better?

The e6700 has a higher default clockspeed (2.66ghz, instead of 2.13), and double the l2 cache (4mb vs 2).

It's the exact same core w/ half the cache locked and a lower multiplier. Yay for Intel... Why on Earth didn't they sell them all the same? Marketing I guess?

Only about 5-10% (it depends on the application). The 6700 will be faster at stock.

i guess i'll just go for the e6400. because i heard upgrading your precessor was pretty darn easy. That true?

As long as your board supports C2D upgrading is as easy as plugging in a processor can be. No need to re-install OS or anything, just plug it in. E6400 is a good choice, IMO 4mb isn't worth the extra because there's hardly any performance difference. And it's the same core anyway.

IMO there are only two choices as far as Core 2 duo's go. Get the E4300 or E6600 and overclock those babies.

Also when clocking e6700 it would be alot easier because it can reach high speeds with few FSB. Not all boards can do 450+ FSB so it e6400 need better/ more expensive motherboard.
