Realistically, 8 might almost be overkill. I'm still playing games just fine with my 8800gt and 2GB of RAM. When it's time for BF3 I'm going to do a cheap upgrade to 4GB and probably a new VGA, but I'm a poor college student who needs to pay for tuition. :p

Unless you have a huge resolution monitor or need to play everything on Ultra-High and know that the FPS is 15% higher, 8GB will definitely suffice for just about everything you could possible want to do. More important is the VGA and having a CPU that doesn't bottleneck it.

As a STALKER fan and a Fallout Fan (been playing new vegas lately) I can tell you that its more of a Fallout background, but Im talking late 90's fallout here.
