And whats wrong with Parkway Drive? I like metalcore better than actual metal... its so cliche...

I just dont like them. I find their songs are structured poorly, and I listened to 30 seconds each of 2 different songs (boneyards and carrion I think) and just got bored. I did like the opening to boneyards but now I just find it annoying and un-flowey.

Remember, this is coming from a guy who has liked metal before all his schoolmates have (when I was 10 I started listening to korn and slipknot, then I got bored) so when I found out about them I just was appauled. also, I just hate that alot of the other kids at my school like them. I found I am very alternative to a lot of people. There ofcourse are alot of traditional metalheads here who do dislike them

in short, IMHO I think they are the worst thing to happen to australian metal. because of a short passage I read on the australian heavy metal wikipedia page saying they are touted as australias prominent "metal" groups.

and again, my forte is prog metal and avant garde, so I like complicated stuff. /tl; dr

Thats cool, I never got to into much progressive stuff because a lot of it just sound dissonant to me... and "real metal" (which everyone refers to differently) is to me just really cliche Metallica-ish type bands that I never really was interested in... and Slipknot and Korn I always thought were pretty awful.

But yea, you would definitely like this... just discovered them the other day.

Thanks man. well I find its better to talk with older people about music because I've gotten into arguments in the past because I dont like Parkway. I just hate how all the scene kids think they are all metal and sh!t because they listen to parkway and I killed the prom queen. for teenagers they just breed posers thats all.

As I mentioned before I dont listen to straight up metal either.

Oh. yea. That would make sense, they do go along with the whole scenester movement haha... I just listen to whatever I think sounds good.

I just genuinely hate them and noone see's why.

I went on animals as leaders myspace, listened to the other 2 songs and tried to look on itunes for it, failing that, i went on MP3 panda and im going to download it when my brother wakes up so he can use his account. :awes

That's the thing, Metallica, Korn and Slipknot (not that much, but I don't like them) were all thrash metal, it sort of ... sells it self out.

Alternative metal, nu metal and rap metal (punk rockish?) are the ones I prefer.

Yeaaa thats what I was just about to say, nu-metal is pretty gay too lol. I've definitely seen whole songs played on the E string in that genre.
