From a thread in the Feedback section, it was something TGN was testing out. From what I understand, you could click that button and Twitter directly about that post/link. Meh.
..
I think Twitter has its uses, but can easily just become spam from people microblogging every little thought that pops into their head.
I just started using it, but have been very selective in who I follow. I get updates from a couple major news sites, some sports sites, and a couple of major video game sites, and that's about it. I have no interest in who's eating a sandwich, or going to a movie/watching TV, or whatever. I just want official news.
And it's all incoming info only - I don't post updates about what I'm doing.
I have a plug-in for Firefox that will show me the latest updates to my list every 30 minutes (adjustable). I find it handy. I get the "breaking news" headlines to let me know something is happening, and I can follow up if I want, or just close the window.
For video games in particular, instead of sitting on a site refreshing if you're waiting for a patch or release or something, you can receive a Twitter update letting you know it's ready, and then head on over there.
