Because for the longest time people were constantly talking about how amazing it was despite the fact that (like a unicorn) no one had actually seen one out in the wild.

Yep, quite a few people have managed to get their hands on an es version of the proc, while the performance in multithreaded apps is great, its going to run really hot and probably not oc as well as the normal core 2 duo's.

1; no they are not.
2; you can when you dont have a fortune to spend on a new Processor.
3; hmm guess what your wrong again... i have a Pentium D 805 in the house using the stock fan and it doesnt overheat despite it not getting the proper cooling as its stuck in a corner.

Yeah, thanks for pointing those things out. Not all of us can afford the newest and greatest things. And plus, I'm only 13 so I don't have a lot of money. But I'm probably still going to get the core 2 duo since I got good grades this last quarter and my parents are willing to chip a little extra in. :)
