Pentium D vs. Core 2 Duo

Ok, so I was pretty set on a Pentium D 3.0 ghz 4 mb cache, etc.. but then my dad was like "I think you should get a Core 2 Duo."


But, to get a Core 2 Duo, I would need to upgrade my moteherboard which is about 60 more and I need one with pci-e and ddr which I only found 1. So, is it worth getting the Core 2 Duo and a new mobo or should I just get the Pentium D because I already have a compatibly mobo?

i would definently do it,as u can see in my sig i have the cre 2 duo e6300 and a 7600 gt liek u are and i run maxeed out on bf2,the core 2 is also loads better in things liek power consumption and heat.

Yes, the duo is worth the extra money, even at stock speed it'll blow the D away.

yeah listen to dad, D stock is old now.....and if you say it was his fault that you cant afford to upgrade everything then im sure hell feel guilty and help you with some parts?

Although a formidable chip, the P4 D is outclassed by even the 6300 m8, and you can overclock them well on air as well.

Core 2 Duo is a dual core chip like the Pentium D.
