By far the Core 2 Duo is the better of the two processers. Faster, lower heat, Less power consumtion. If you can spring for the new motherboard go with the Core 2 Duo you will be a lot happier.

also, to get a pentium d i dont need a new mobo but for core 2 duo i do. but im still going to probably get core 2 duo

lol man....Pentium D is freaking crap...u can't never compare something like that with uber Core 2 Due...dude even 1.8 C2D would whoop 3.0 GHz Ds in performance. Then they overheating like crazy so u need after market fan if u wanna do anything with those, C2D will last a lot more.

I tell you....don't buy Pentium D if u can get C2D.

1; no they are not.
2; you can when you dont have a fortune to spend on a new Processor.
3; hmm guess what your wrong again... i have a Pentium D 805 in the house using the stock fan and it doesnt overheat despite it not getting the proper cooling as its stuck in a corner.

oh and its called a Core 2 Duo
