Just built 680i / 8800GTX. First test / impressions.

So I just got done with my system and had time to play some BF2142 and run 3DMark06. The system is smoking fast. BF2142 would get about 80FPS at 1920x1200 with everything maxed out. Game wouldn't let me go higher than 4xAA for some reason but ill figure that out soon enough and bump it to 8x at least. Everything is totally stock, the memory was at 800MHz with 5-5-5-18 timings. Strangely enough I lost 60 points after changing memory timings to 4-4-4-12, can anyone comment on this?

How much did that setup cost you? Seems like it is the best available setup, must have cost a fortune

Haha, yea its a pricy setup. Much better than my socket 478 P4 3GHz with X850XT PE that I just upgraded from. Already had the Dell 24" and the Klipsch Audio system but spent $2700 on all the other stuff this week. All together I'd say its around a $3500 setup. Hope it lasts me a while! Hopefully I won't need to upgrade for at least 2 years.

I'll post some screenies tonight, maybe from 2142 cuz I haven't installed BF2 yet and i'm probably going to install Oblivion next.

Is it *twice* as good? I'm (stubbornly, it seems) waiting for a system that will cost ~1000USD that will deliver 2x the performance of my current socket 478 3ghz x800xt AIW.
