The only thing I would suggest to change on mine is up the memory to 2x1gb, and I don't think going with 667mhz memory (to stay in budget) would hurt performance that much in games.

This memory (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145015) will stay in budget after the MIR, so you will be $30 over until they mail the money to you.

        Re: Building Computer

Don't listen to some of these other odd suggestions.

Get a Conroe Allendale (buy the lowest end model and OC it 1300mhz+ on stock HSF)

Get a 7900GS (best bang for the buck GPU on the market)

Get that cheap (but excellet) gigabyte motherboard that supports Conroe processors

        Get a 2x1gig ram kit

        Get a decent OCZ/Antec PSU 500w minimum

And you're good to go. Price versus performance the above combo is pretty much unbeatbale.

congrats planewhore you just totally blew his budget into peaces. not to mention that the 7900GS is very hard to find right now. and they are only OEM at the moment. (ecept the XFX but thats $212) and if your gunna spend $212 ya might as well just save up and get the 7900GT

Not to mention im sure he does more than just play games. multitasking is so much better on a dual core. hell i run virus scans while i play BF2. as for the PSU it is not crap and overpowered is good for future upgrades. and yes the hard drive is smaller than id like it to be but unless he wants some POS $20 case on his budget that will have to do for the time being.

and if your that worried about the video card just get an x1800xt http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102007 (changed above)

EDIT: yeah after further looking you could get a wopping 3500+ with a whole 200Mhz more clock for $91 and a 3800+ with a whole 400Mhz more clock for $112. gosh that 400Mhz makes me want to just ditch the dual core, and just forget about serious multitasking. LMFAO

as for memory over futher exam i see the cheapest CL4 1Gb stick is $99 wow thats a big savings right there. i dont recall the stick i posted being $200.

sigh i wish people would learn before they type.
$152 for a 2ghz processor? HA! Honestly, if he wants multitasking and is going to spend over $150 then he should go with a conroe 6300. Otherwise, yeah a 3500+ is better for gaming for the price, as no games really use dual core capabilities.

If you want to shop at newegg and want dualcore then here is a setup that isn't completely retarded:

Great Mobo maker, lots of features for the price

Great processor, kicks the equally priced AMD Dual Core's ***.

(Oh geez, two gigs for nearly the same price!! )

(EVGA is a trusted brand, lifetime warranty, and stepup program in case you come into some money and want to upgrade within 3 months.)

Very nice power supply for the money.

Worth going over your budget, anything under 200GB won't last very long these days.

Whatever case you want, and Windows XP should set you straight.

~756 barebones after rebates without shipping. Might be $100 over budget but you can skimp on little things if you want. For $100 more that system would be a monster for the money.

The 7900GS was just 140 bucks on woot.com a couple days ago. Yeah it might stretch the budget just a little bit but it's cheaper to get something that is future proof even though it might cost a little more initially.

Well smart ***, I guess he'd be going to WoW forums if he wanted to play that. Funny how this is a BF2 forum, and BF2 wasn't on the list to argue for the processor that costs almost twice as much.

But yeah, you know what you're talking about telling him to buy recerts, 1 gig of ram in a BF2 forum, and then acting like a stuckup 14 year old that wants to play big.

PS: A$$hat, my friend's 3700+ AMD system with the above specs replacing conroe will play any of the games in that list on Max setting without breaking a sweat (minus the unreleased one).

omg you are seriously making me crack up. listen Son, im sure he plays more games than just BF2. and im also very sure that he does more on his computer than just play BF2. o and not to mention the mobo you "suggested" doesnt even support the conroe CPU's. and if it does its gunna need a bios flash. so ya can throw in another $50 for a celeron to flash it with. your suggestions are just ludacris. and i changed the GPU for the guy. (X1800XT > 7600GT). so my advice to you is to just sit back and let more capable people help this guy.

i only listed like 1/8th of the games that will support dual core. and lets face it buying a computer today that isnt a dual core is the biggest mistake one can make. after 07 hits 90% of the games released will support dual core if not all of them. thats like saying "wow my new car is fine right now, better not get the warrenty.

Lastly, the 1GB of ram is only temp. when he has the money (or he decides to spend more right up front) he can add another stick and have some seriously great memory that Oc's like a bat out of hell. or as knghtwhosaysni suggested if he doesnt wanna wait and upgrade a little later he can get the cheaper 2x1gb kit. if he likes.

No, Smart guy, you just made me laugh. Its a Conroe board, there are several reviews of people using it with Conroe. I suggest reading before typing, it makes you look foolish otherwise. You plan on getting him a 2ghz A64 to fully power an x1800XT? HAHAHAH.

And about Dual core, he's got a budget, you suggested a 3800+ instead of a Conroe, which is dual core, and will beat the absolute crap out of a 3800+. You're a genius. Just shut up before you look anymore rediculous. I know the urge to call a 23 y/o "Son" make you feel like you've gone through puberty, but sometimes you just have to give up arguing a bad point.

PS: And about the RAM, that, and a graphics card better than a 6800GT are the two most important things you should recommend for anyone asking to build a rig on a BF2 Forum. This game needs 2gigs of ram so why suggest one at the start? When he gets more money he can upgrade graphics cards if needed using EVGA Stepup. You suggest a graphics card that will be severely bottlenecked by its CPU, yet dual core isn't important for this game AT ALL.

A 7600GT and 2 gigs of ram will outperform an X1900XTX and 1 gig as far as playability for this game.

This is a BF2 forum, shut the hell up about other games. The system I suggested will absolutely rape whatever you posted above for the price range and will play any of the above games with no problems while having almost twice the HD space, a faster CPU, More ram, and a better quality PSU.

you do relise that the ASRock ConRoeXFire-eSATA2 was released before conroe was out for future use, and requirs a BIOS update to even boot a conroe. not to mention the board doesnt even overclock that well. and as for the CPU's yes hes on a b u d g e t. did i say that slow enough? the E6300 is $40 more than the x2 3800+. and when you add in the cheap CPU your going to need to flash the board thats even more money waisted. and plz do not make me rape your mind with the reason why CPU bottlenecking isnt as big of an issue anymore.

o for **** sake will you quit the "for BF2 For BF2 ****." no one plays Bf2 and only BF2. and yes dual core isnt all that for games RIGHT NOW but yeah future proofing is so dumb my bad. as for the 7600GT/2GB > x1900xt/1GB comment, well im just going to pretend you did not say that.

LMAO i just relised you said that the Sparkle was better than the Antec TPII. wow pure moronic. and FYI if he did the stepup and got say a 7900GT. that Sparkle 400W would crap its pants. even if it did supply enough power (barly) you could forget Overclocking at all.

I'll reply to your other hog$hit after I get back tonight. For the record, my PQI turbo overclocked from 400mhz effective to 473mhz effective with no stability problems. Thats about as good as a beginner computer builder will need ON A BUDGET.

As for the mobo compatibility: "Pros: This is a great motherboard, has many features and works right out of the box with the latest Intel processors. I'm currently using it with my new Core 2 Duo processor, highly recommened for gamers an...

Did not need to update the mobo, recognized Core 2, ram was Corsair, used a leftover video card and was good to go. Took about 70 minutes to install everything into case and boot os. Installed 2 sata drives Raid 0, was a breeze."

Yeah, a barebones system on a BUDGET (yeah I'll be a **** like you) needs a modest PSU. For the price, 400w will be fine. I run a 450w crap rosewill, until i can step back up, that powers everything in my sig, 2 hard drives, 8 USB devices, and 6 case fans, not to mention my volt modded 7900GT, a TV tuner, and my voltage on my RAM, NB, and CPU are all raised. 400w out of a good reliable PSU is much better than spending, again, nearly twice as much, for overkill. It'd be as stupid as him buying 4 gigs of ram instead of a decent hard drive because someday he might use all 4 gigs.

                              Your logic astounds me.

I've used mine for over a year now. Great RAM for the price, considering a tight budget. And I was giving that douchebag the benefit of the doubt that maybe he'll have a bunch of games and maybe even use his computer on a daily basis.
